I use an effect when it goes along with the audio and/or helps the message or concept I'm trying to get across.

Half the time, this requires planning, but it's always good for the soul to just slap an invert on and enjoy one's self. 8)

i have koop locked in my celler out back. i feed him a slice of bread and a 7.5 ounce glass of water each day. when i want to make effects in a video, i beat him with a dead cat.

>_>

<_<

yea, thats it =P

but really, i dont like to use effects, nice clean footage-to-music-"editing" are what i try to master most. on that once in a wile time when i DO want an effect *cough*Fadded Anime*cough* (no, thats not a typo, everything thinks it is ><) usaly, ill see it long before i put any footage into Premiere. however, i dont like to use the effects bundles that come with any one program, i like to make my own, with something like Photoshop.

well then, i'm not much for effects either, havn't had the opportunity to use them much save for slow down/speed up

slowing a simple scene down for the bridge of a song is cool

but anyways, amv ideas come to me whn i watch an anime and hear a song again ( i tend to know every song made and i can sing to new ones heeh, just a matter of experience, goes for english and japanese)

i'm thinken those with experience in effects can do sumthen similar

You know, this all seems so strangely familiar...

This works for me...

Step 1. Choose anime and song
Step 2. Close eyes
Step 3. Play song repeatedly (for some it might be safer to start music before closing eyes)
Step 4. Picture anime clips (with eyes still closed) going along with song
Step 5. Imagine effects at points in the song that "feel" right
Step 6. Spend a month or so of editing (open eyes before starting)
Step 7. Spend this time drinking LOTS of coffee
Step 8. Also spend this time with big headaches trying to figure out how to make desired effects
Step 9. Release vid and watch friends lie to you about how good your amv is

I think thyril already used that style thou

(Otakuforlife verison)This works for me...

Step 1. Choose anime and song
- way too easy for me, on a good day
someone can play a song and I'll show match it

Step 2. Close eyes
- I keep them open, I see FX in my mind

Step 3. Play song repeatedly

Step 4. Picture anime clips
- Scarey talent I do this thinking about the show

Step 5. Imagine effects at points in the song that "feel" right

Step 6. Spend a month or so of editing (open eyes before starting)

Step 7. Spend this time drinking LOTS of coffee
- replace the word coffee w/ mountian dew

Step 8. Also spend this time with big headaches trying to figure out how to make desired effects

Step 9. Release vid and watch friends lie to you about how good your amv is
- Accually this part is about the same too[/u]

how do i plan an effect ?

easy!! :D

the music tells all!!

all animes (most of them) have an action part an angry part and a 'rebellion ' part . music has a main song , chorus and a climax.

you build on the dynamics of the music!

thats what makes a real amv! :D
