Re: Suffering for your Art
I seem to have the "lack of editing due to sleep" problem... or insert any other verb in the place of sleep and it works.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Where does Lindsay Lohan fit on the hierarchy of torture? I worked on my Gunslinger Confessions AMV off and on for an entire year, and restarted it twice. I think I winIleia wrote:What if it had been a Miley Cyrus song? Ohoho! I'm doing it again right now with Betwixt and BEtween 2. >_< If that's not suffering, I dunno what is.
Myself, I've frequently waited until deadlines to make videos, not slept and then gone to work the next day, but that's about it. But that "lack of sleep due to editing" is fairly commonplace.

And 2 years ago, I started my AWA expo vid 4 days before the deadline. I also had to work at my part time job and go to my classes. There is a certain level of indescribable exhaustion that you feel when you literally work all day and night both physically and mentally.

I have a canker sore on my lip, and I keep poking it with my tongue ... BUT THAT'S ONLY MAKING IT WORSE!

It seems when I listen to music, I tap & grind my teeth along to it as well. So now they are wearing down a lot, one so much it split. It and I have gone our separate ways.
I'm getting a mouth piece now for when I sleep.
While working on 'Duet' I would spend 8 hours at home, masking characters (torso, head, hair, mouths....), only to complete maybe 5 seconds of footage. FOREGROUND footage. My wife was great though, truly supportive. She even promised to kill me quickly if I ever started another.

To finish a particular video, I seriously gave up a month of my life. I'd wake up, go to work, come home for lunch (edit for an hour), go back to work, come home, eat dinner (edit for 6 more hours) go to bed, get up, go to work........ And the weekends were for getting chores done/buying groceries, but the rest of them and deep into the night were spent working on the video. Yep.

Before I lay awake at night to finish my AMVs... that was not suffering for me, but that was annoying, well... Now I feel more relaxed about the edition!
