It seems the script is in the process of being finalized, so says Harrison Ford, and shooting is scheduled to begin June 2004. For other interesting news bits, head over to TheRaider.net's IJ4 Section.

Any thoughts? I for one am psyched that Ford's coming back. Old or no, I don't think anyone else could feasibly fill that role. And according to TheRaider, it seems Connery will be making a comeback as well. Double the coolness.

OHHH, didnt kno that they gonna make another one, koo. They were all good, cant wait till this one come out, its been a while though, but its all good. :D

Well, against all odds, they managed to make an enjoyable movie out of Terminator 3 (not the same people, I know, just a comparison), and that franchise was dormant for around a decade or so. Maybe they can pull it off with Indiana Jones too. I sure hope so.
First off, T3 was a complete waste. The whole alternate timeline was screwed up. Sarah Connor is supposed to live through 2029 (which was an alternate ending for T2 at the park).

Secondly, Henry Jones shouldn't die off in the '50s. If you remember, both he and Indiana drank from the Holy Grail, which gives them incredibly long life (if you remember The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Indiana confronts two kids in the '90s as a very old man). Henry Jones should live at least into the '60s or '70s.

Finally, the Holy Grail was supposed to be the ultimate quest, to finish off the trilogy. Noah's Ark would be great, but it might be confused with the Ark of the Covenant (the first movie). What they need to do is bring up some old Nazi stuff. If you remember, they talked about Hitler's obsession with the occult, how he was collecting all of these historically significant artifacts around the world. What if the Jones family went out to find some of the missing artifacts that were lost after WWII? That would get pretty interesting, and offer a ton of opportunities for border patrol chases across East Germany (to rip off all the James Bond films).

Took the words right out of my keyboard. And really, there's no other actor the public could really imagine filling the shoes (and fedora) of Indy other than Harrison Ford. It's not quite like Bond in that the character is more remembered than the actor. For most people, Ford is Indiana Jones. Try to cast another guy, and the movie won't do half as well.

Not to mention that Ford himself, though getting up in age, has still proven he can pull off his own stunts quite well. Take a look at Air Force One (1997). He can still play a butt-kicking President of the United States. And if you want to go for a more recent one, check out K-19: The Widowmaker (2002).

Going on that premise (which would be duly awesome), I have a sneaking suspicion he might be after the Spear of Longinus. Hitler was rumored to have had possession of it, and after WWII, it was tucked away by Nazi soldiers until the early 90s. Not to mention after the Holy Grail quest, it would make perfect sense.

Another rumor I've heard is that he's after Excalibur. This also makes great sense considering the last movie ("The Arthur Legend. I've heard this bedtime story before" said to Walter Donovan concerning the Grail). And it'd be an interesting twist since Excalibur isn't really a religious artifact, but still a legendary relic (more to Celtic tradition than Christianity, really).

Either one would be interesting. But since the movie would be dealing primarily with the Cold War era, I don't really know. If I had to bet on one of the above, I'd go with the Spear of Longinus, though.

I'm pretty sure the Noah's Ark script wasn't real, for the record. But I do remember it explaining why Henry Jones died despite also drinking from the grail--it's been a while too, so I don't remember if he actually manages to drink more than a sip from it--most of it was just used to heal the wound. Plus the whole immortality thing I think works only if the person/grail stays in the room where they found it (the knight who returned to the homeland lived I think 300 years, as opposed to the 800 or so that the knight who stayed survived). Point is, if Henry Jones Sr. dies, they can probably explain it somehow...

I'm pretty sure they're not going to do the Excalibur thing (they posted it as a fan script that people can download off the site, actually). The Lance of Longenes thing might be interesting, but I'm sure I wouldn't be alone in flashing back to End of Evangelion (which is actually where I first heard of the Longenes legend).

The thing that scares me, though, is the fact that they're not only bringing back Karen Ravenwood, but also Willie Scott... she was just plain annoying...

Just looked at the site again--it is, in fact, going to be set in the '50s... FAQ's here. (Sorry about the double-posting...)
