editing in screencaps forum

Post by Minion » Fri Nov 03, 2006 12:14 pm

say you're reading through a screencap thread and you find a post you made - but the hotlnk is broken.
would be nice to be able to fix it rather than making a new post

Minion: masturbate into someones desk and giggle about it for the remaining 28 minutes

sounds like an okay idea to me.
yeah, people could abuse it by posting pr0n and then removing it before the mods can get to it, but for other people (pretty much boom...but yeah) if they realize that they post a "bad" pic they can take it down themselves instead ofhaving to wait for a mod to do it

I'm sure Kailum wouldn't argue with not having to remove as many pics
(best case, he wouldn't have to do that anymore...if people would edit thier quoted pics)

worst case scenerio is it backfiring as you said - in which case it just gets disabled again. no long term damage

You make no argument that is spicific to that subforum though. The same could apply to any post on any section of the forum.

The argument for that subforum would be that text doesn't just randomly delete itself (although a mod might delete it). Normally, the information is always there on display for others. However, an image's hosting may run out at any given time. Let's say people discussed that image for five pages after the initial post. Without an image to reference, all of that discussion makes little sense suddenly. Basically...

text = permanent; doesn't need an edit button - just a double post
image = temporary; may need "renewed" eventually, requring an edit button

Few are going to be actively maintaining their posts, especially in a thread over five hundred pages long.

True. To be honest, I don't really care one way or the other if there's an edit button in that forum. I don't use it. I was just offering a decently valid argument for the idea, since Bashar said that it was lacking one.

Er... just realized that that might come off as kind of sarcastic. It's not intended to be. It's just something I do. I like having both sides of the coin out on the table. >_>;;
