Question about some anime listings.

Post by Cornwiggle » Tue Oct 31, 2006 9:56 am

This is a profile I found, along with a few others that I don't have the link.

What I'm wondering is simple.

See how he has a manga on his list? How come some series you can put the manga on your list, while others you can't? I even saw a Fruits Basket manga on someone's list. When I tried to add "FMA manga" to mine it wouldn't let me. How come some can be added while other's can't?

Simply put, there has been a long debate amonst the admins if Manga would be conisdered Anime. Purly on it's own it not, however using it in an AMV with anime or in realy cleaver ways is fine...

Thus, as of now, I've been accepting manga titles as anime sources, but there are hundreds of entires prior, and it all depends on when they were approved and by who. This is something we hope to cleanup and unify when there is time.

So long as people don't start to pass "Slide Shows" of Manga set to music off as AMVs, then manga source in AMVs should be acceptable

The FMA manga IS listed though. What I'm wondering is, why can some people add their manga to their list, while I can't add the FMA manga? If you can add it, why can't all manga be added?

Just curious, since I'm not planning on making any manga vids, but how much motion and cleverness would have to be introduced to a manga vid for it to be acceptable?

Actually, as long as we're on the topic of manga, I'd like to pose a question, too (because I actually DO plan on making an MMV someday).

May I ask why? The only difference I can come up with is that anime is made to look like it has motion and manga is not. Otherwise, they're both just illustrated still images. Er... I think that reasoning might sound weird, but it makes sense to me. I hope it makes sense to others. >_>;;

In any case, let's simplify the question for the current situation: if I ever make an MMV, should I plan on alternate hosting or the .org's hosting?

PS: Um... I kinda derailed your topic, Cornwiggle. I apologize. ~_~;;

Gnerally, if you want to be totaly sure it's considered an AMV, having manga mixed with anime is perfectly fine.

An all manga video is will depend on it's content and can't be gneralized if it's acceptable or not for being an AMV, thus its based on a case by case basis...

Just for the record, Manga is not the same thing as anime. Anime may be a series of stills, but they are set to Motion being "animated" thus anime...
