Please help a poor stupid girl yall!

Well first off i'm a local user and for some reason I am able to download video's but I can't figure out how to watch them.
A screen comes up saying in 10 seconds the video will start and them my media player pops up and thats it...No video no nothin just a media player that from some odd reason won't play.
I tried saving a video when i downloaded and then using a different media player (I have NeroMediaPlayer and Windows Media player) but it wouldn't play on Nero either.
I really really need help and if you do I'll love you forever!

sometimes you need codecs, such as DivX or realplayer for some vids, as well as a few others, divx might suck, but its worth the codec. try to find a FREE DivX download, just dont go to the movie website, and dont use the player all the time, the Movie website sucks and it tries to download viruses. avoid divx movies basically

'Dont use the player all the time'? You dont need the Divx player to play Divx files...Just the codec and then your preferred player usually.
'Avoid divx movies basically'? Wouldnt that would be like avoiding all the Divx encoded AMVs here? o.0 That can turn out to be troublesome

Like people have or haven't said; sometimes you need special players to view different files.
Some say get the codecs I say get the players, it's easier.
Windows Media Player accepts most but for some reason sometimes it won't play .avi files unless you have the Divx player installed to.

Also, when downloading files always check the file code (.mpeg, .avi, .rm) to know if you have the software to actually play them.

if 7 days is condidered necroposting then you can all go and F*** yerselves in the A**. responding to all of yer stupid questions, i was saying that when you download the DivX player it downloads a link to the movie website, i was saying Dont go to the friggin website, is thaat clear enough for you? the movie website tries to download viruses, so i was warning everyone. ya got that WilLoW??? stop asking stupid questions and you wont get angry answers.
