incomplete "download complete"
For the past week or two, when I downloaded some vids, I would get the "download complete" window when it still had X% left to DL and knowing it wasn't complete I would get only part of the video and would have to reDL it 2 or 3 times to get it completly.
My question is.....Is this a problem with my computer?(the Dell people said it wasn't) the website ?(i know...fat chance) my screensaver? My internet connection?(I have dial-up..........don't laugh..........please) Any ideas would be helpful and apprecated.
For reference the last 2 videos I had this problem was "It's trickey to make a music video" (finally got that one after 3 tries) and "Right now someone is reading this title" (I'm giving it a 3rd try after I finish this)
Again any help is apprecated.
Thank you

I'd like to jump in with a couple of things to investigate:
1. Screensavers have been known to screw up just about everything, I swear AT them, not BY them. If your gonna leave your machine for awhile, just turn the monitor off, really its better this way.
2. Your dial up is probably timing out which can trick the browser into thinking its done its upload, there are a few things to take a look at here:
a. Do you have any 900Mhz phones nearby (In the same or adjacent room)? 900Mhz phones will interfere with a modems communications, not usually enough to make it disconnect but enough to cause these time out failures.
b. Is your modem on the same line as your phone? (Can you talk on the phone at the same time as your online?)
c. Who is your ISP? (Who do you get your internet service from) <Begins praying its not AOHELL, umm, err, I mean AOL)
d. If you have a second phone line how did the technicians do it? There are two ways, one is to string whole new lines, which is more expensive. Or they just split the wire bundle in two which still works great for telephone use, but really hurts your connection reliability, due to increased interference and halfed signal strength.
e. What make/model of modem do you use? And, are you living in the city or the country?
If I think of anything else i'll post again, but these are definately things to look into. Times like this I almost miss my old Tech Support job....NOT!

AS far as I know I have no accelerators/managers
I have a McAfee firewall installed
Onyx:
I turned my screensaver off and switch off the monitorfor the next few hours
I did get a new phone. It dosen't say on the phone. I'll see if I still have the box. I'll also disconnect it next time i try a download.
It is on the same line as the phone.

Let me guess.... Internet Explorer 6, maybe

Okaaaaaaaaaay. So where on my computer can I find it? (Why do I have the feeling I an going to feel so stupid when I find out the answer)
I also got some more info I didn't have earlier. My modem is (i assume from the packing slip) a "Integrated 56K PCI data fax modem", I did download a "manager" from "SONIC", and I forgot to mention I am in a city (Clarksville TN to be exact). If anyone needs any other info to help me I do my best to provide it (Credit card # EXCLUDED!!!!! I'm not THAT inept. You're going to have to deal with some blank signed checks
)
And ONYX. Sorry, all I have are large consecutive bills. I'll see what else I can do.
