"AMV Recommendations" forum
So we can move all of the posts like "Good InuYasha vids?" and "Somebody tell me where to get a good YYH AMV!" out of General AMVs.
I declare myself a genius.

No, seriously, this might not be such a bad idea -- it'd make it easy to find videos, and would provide a centralized location for people to shamelessly plug their own works. It'd be like the VCAs without the suck.
The only problem is that you might get a wording problem between "AMV Suggestions" and "AMV Recommendations".
Sure, there's forum description text, but children of the Internet never read beyond the second heading.

But aren't the top 10% lists (with it's filters like "drama, action, etc.") and star scales already some form of this? I mean sure it's not specific like "Inu Yasha," but I figured the review system was in place to create recommendations and so on.trythil wrote:Wrong section, n00b!angelx03 wrote:So if there's some noob who ask that type of question, we can flame them and tell them this is the wrong section. I guess an easier way to accomplish this would be to create a filter by anime on the top 10% list or something and list some of the more popular anime shows. *shrug*
Only reason I'm slightly against this is the amount of negativity it will generate. The Top 10% already generates enough and adding some recommendation page will make people flame each other for not getting on and so on. Also who's to say what is the "Ultimate XYZ video?" Again, reviews seem to work out better *shrug*.

Agreed. Sounds like it would quickly degenerate into people doing nothing but plugging their own videos, which is kinda what "Announcements" is already for (albeit only for new videos).dwchang wrote:Only reason I'm slightly against this is the amount of negativity it will generate.

You could just say that that's not allowed (unless maybe it's really on topic). Like you're not supposed to beg for opinions in the opinion exchange forum.VegettoEX wrote:Agreed. It would still happen (again, like in the op exchange), but not as much.

I think a 'filter by anime' option is on the list of things to do for the top lists.
Once that's up, there won't be a need to do recommendation threads for each anime, the person can just click the name in the lists. Of course, it will still only list amvs that have 8 or more reviews, but it should give results for most of the popular anime. The more rare ones - well, they can just do a regular search and find the 10 or 15 vids listed for those. ^_^;;
Another possibility would be to list the anime along with the title and creator in the 'Star List' since you can't filter that. But it would probably take up too much space and make the table look bad...

Perhaps combined with an order by score tick box in the super search, so if you'd want to you could search for the most popular DBZ-LP-In the end video, or whatever funky complicated combination you could think of.Arigatomyna wrote:I think a 'filter by anime' option is on the list of things to do for the top lists.
