why is it that when I download a video I get audio but not visual.

It's because you don't have the right codecs and/or the right player.

as previously mentioned, it is probably because you do not have the right program. i had this excact same problem and it got me really angry. try downloading Real Player (you can get it for free if you get the older version) and play it with that. it should work.
