I was wandering what does the star average mean? likes if its only 3.5 what does that mean?

On some I have 22 or more stars yet its showing the average only being 3.5 or 4.5

From the Star ratings you receive[On a scale of 1-5], the Average Star Rating is calculated by exactly what the title says- the average rating.
