Shin-AMV wrote:I guess this would also be a good place to give shout outs to other AMVs/editors that missed the VCAs because they didn't upload here. I really wanted to nominate some stuff from Chiikaboom like:

Imagica

In my mind, she would have been a solid contender for Editor of the Year too.
Rider4Z wrote:question, why is it called VCAs 2012 when it's for videos made in 2011?
CodeZTM wrote:Are there videos that I would have preferred be in some places? Naturally. I'm kind of sad that Selfless Regret didn't make it in anywhere, because I really thought it was a quality piece. But that's how the cookie crumbles I guess. But I am happy that Disney MEP II got in. (albeit, Empty Mosiac is still my main choice in this category)?
Oh, and DISCO HEAVEN FTW.
Shin-AMV wrote:Before I saw the majority of the MEPs I was pretty set on Empty MosIAc as my MEP choice but then I saw the others and I have to say I found RU.Comix 2 pretty hilarious that its really a toss up between those two for me. Sometimes I lean towards the disney mep, but I find the the difference in quality between the highest and lowest videos in the Disney MEP to be greater in comparison to some of the other MEPs that it pulls down the overall ranking for me. I enjoyed the Sakura MEP and Sol Levante as well, but Empty MosIAc and RU.Comix to me are very well coordinated and put together. EM has a really coherent and coordinated theme throughout while RU.Comix is just surprisingly hilarious even if you aren't hopped up on vodka and borscht:

Shin-AMV wrote:My guess on Dead Moon Masquerade is that its pretty hard to categorize it that it was probably getting votes/nominations across the different categories it was in but the votes weren't getting consolidated enough in any specific category to get it to pass through.
I was also surprised not to see Kitty & Galia not in the finals for Editor of the year, they've been pretty busy and have put out a lot of quality stuff.

TritioAFB wrote:You didn't expect Ru.comix 2 Shin? When I first proposed it as Best MEP I was pretty sure that it needed more appreciation. I remembered commenting one of the French guys that this time the Best MEP was going to be a kind of versus between EM and Ru.comix, Depending of the result we'll know that
It's going to be funny that someone that has been editing for the last 4 years wins the Rookie of the Year, ironic
I'd encourage anybody to watch Ru Comix2, its bloody brilliantShin-AMV wrote:I know right? I saw them as finalists in pretty much all the contests I entered and they seemed to consistently win/place well so I thought they would be fairly well known. At least they have 3 solid entries in the finals.TritioAFB wrote:You didn't expect Ru.comix 2 Shin? When I first proposed it as Best MEP I was pretty sure that it needed more appreciation. I only saw RU Comix in its entirety when it was played during the livestream events. I'm usually not a fan of those comedy collection stuff like AMV Hell or AMV Salad type stuff, but they do have their moments, and was really expecting it to be more like that. After watching it though, I have to say that after the opening sections, it ended up being quite hilarious and had a very consistent high level of editing in it.

That's because Pencilhead wasn't in the finals for Best Effects.
