AnimeNEXT 2008 AMV Contest -- RESULTS

Looking forward to seeing some awesome AMVs since the first con I went to, NYAF, had a really poor showing(really wish I had entered that one). Granted it was the con's first year but still...

I was there for NYFA too and saw the contest and yeah I would have to agree but only one or two videos were good. Looking forward to my third con and my second time seeing my video on the big screen.

Yea, i believe there were only two vids that were even interesting to watch and they were both comedy. Although I've seen better versions of the "Internet is for Porn" vid it was the best thing at the contest and made up for the other lackluster ones. Seemed it was a bunch of rookies that entered. (although i'm basically a rookie myself)

I just want to clarify, so after all the votes are tallied on saturday, the winners will be announced the same day or will they be announced sunday? And the awards ceremony is after the winners are announced?

If it's like previous years, then the winners will be announced and played at the Masquerade intermission on Saturday night. I don't believe there is a separate awards ceremony -- the last time I saw awards given out at AnimeNEXT, it was done at the same time.

Ah, okay, if so, then that would be awesome and I wouldn't have to go and destroy my friend's careful plans just for my love of AMVs XD

People can theoretically post reporting the winners after they're announced and shown at the Masquerade on Saturday night. Given that the Masquerade starts at 7:00, if all goes according to plan and on time (like last year), then we'll know by 9:00. I can post when I get home from the con that night if nobody else wants to, I suppose.

As for when VegettoEX or MeriC usually makes the official announcement, I don't remember.

I'll be there too , But i will be there a little in the afternoon Because I have a Exam in the morning. (I'll have a Hat that says Dragon/Roy on it) and idk if ill make it to c the contest from the start but ill try to make some of it on the first day.

Comedy: I don't remember who made this one, but it was the TMoSH video to "Girlfriend".

I felt that there were a good deal of videos this year that, while they may not have had the strongest concepts, still demonstrated a great deal of promise in their creators. A lot of people showed clearly that they knew a thing or two about such things as synching and keeping synching interesting. Cases in point: the Nerima Daikon Brothers video (lots of fun), the Chrono Crusade video (would have been awesome with less lip synching), the Slayers video (would have done very well in Upbeat)...

Is this the part where I say "Congrats to all the winners", or are we supposed to save that for when VegettoEX posts the official results?

I am still deeply surprised that I even got an award(i was jumping in my seat like a fanboy when I saw my name on the screen, being my first con entry and all XD)
Still kind of bummed the audio just failed on my vid about 10 secs in on Friday they got it back, but alas it wasn't quite the same. Anywho, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the vids. I will be uploading my entry as soon as I possibly can...and I will make sure to write out a script to explain the story if some people didn't complete understand.

Oh and I completely missed you Scintilla, never saw the shirt, or I just wasn't being very observant...
