Awesome!

As you already know, I really liked this. I haven't seen many fan made trailers but this is the best I've seen so far  Expect some praise when I'll drop you an op later.

Really tight editing : O you can see effort everywhere
Though for some reason it doesn't work as trailer for me, but that might be just me. :dino:
Still better than that MMO.

I first watched this when I was super tired and didn't notice the effects work. Then I watched it again after I got some sleep and was like holy... thats pretty smoothly integrated. Nice work.

What does L.F.S stand for?
My avatar, huh? And give up Gojyo, one perpetual source of confusion as to whether I'm a guy? (I'm not). Tifa's just not me...but you know what, I will definitely switch over to her for Halloween!! Thanks for the idea!

As for "L.F.S.": Sephiroth makes a comment in the AMV opening about " 'Tis the Kingdom of Elefess, my naive friend!" In the original trailer, this is said when one character finds out he's been dragged off to the LARP gathering. In my version, Sephiroth is quasi-breaking the fourth wall and spells it "L.F.S." instead. He's got kind of a weird sense of humor that's pretty close to mine. Just took some 'shrooms to get it out of him.

Probably one of the best trailers I've seen. Then again, you do kick-ass trailers, so I knew this was going to be something great.

Great work with the lip sync, great work with the additional elements and the eye coloring was just BEAUTIFUL.

The level of detail in this is just amazing. I want you to SERIOUSLY make a "making of" video for this (kind of like Eidolon or PencilHead). I'd love to see how all this was done in detail. Or at least a compilation of your documentation journals.

I highly recommend.
Wait wait, I do kick-ass trailers? I've never done a trailer before... @_@ so how could you know that? LOL Another journal follower...yep...it's been a long haul this time, that's for sure. As said before, so pleased to hear I didn't disappoint. :)

As for a making of...hrm...it's...hrm. I was going to say it's pretty simple, what was involved, but I suppose when you pile 50 things on top of one another, it's not quite so straightforward anymore. A making of video would possibly more complex than the AMV, though, if I tried to elegantly show what's going on. People would either be bored to death, quite dismayed when they see the basic tricks employed or (for those good at effects) laugh their heads off at the backwards way I went about things. I don't claim to know what I'm doing, video-wise, I just try to make it look like I do.

Emong op, YAY!! You were a wonderful beta tester, as you already know. :) I don't pay much attention to AMV trailers, either. There are some good ones out there, for sure, but it just isn't something I seek out for casual viewing. I said as much when I started making this AMV, and found it pretty ironic since I never imagined I'd make a trailer.

Thank you for the comment on the editing, that's the thing I've been told over and over again I really need to focus on improving. I can't say that I'm making any concerted effort to be better, it just feels like I'm kind of getting the hang of this (finally).

And thank you also for being honest about your feedback - I unshrunk your comment because I really, really want to hear what people think of my AMV and there is nothing wrong with sharing your opinion. Good, bad, neutral - that's what this announcement thread is here FOR. Tell me what you liked, what you didn't like (and WHY), what I need to work on, whether I missed a great opportunity to go in another direction...I don't want my AMV to exist in a vacuum, even a highly positive vacuum. :)

Thank you! The effects are subtle, they're also harder to pick out if you watch streaming versions. I highly recommend a download - not a preview - for that reason. :)

Glad I got to help you out on this and im glad you finally were able to complete it. The journal updates made it seem like editing this was equivalent to trying to pull your own teeth while juggling explosive chainsaws as you ride a unicycle.

Welcome back, Drifty.

The Kingdom of L.F.S. - Knights of Badassdom Trailer Parody

Post by LantisEscudo » Mon Mar 26, 2012 4:04 pm

I've lost count of how many times I've watched this now. I need to sit down and step through it frame by frame to catch all of the tiny subtle things you put in.

I can't praise this one highly enough. Well done, Drift!

Welcome back, Drifty.
Good to be back...didn't really expect to be, but here I am. Glad to have your help, too, it's pretty easy to get sucked into your own AMV, and having other sets of eyes on it definitely helps put things in perspective. I must say, though, that L.F.S. was much easier to create than the other videos I've made, at least from the standpoint of becoming frustrated and feeling like I was up against an almost impossible task. Don't believe me, read my journal from back then- I made AMVing sound like hell on earth. lol This one was more like purgatory.

Thanks for letting me know it perked up your day - I make these things in hopes that they will do that. The extras, like effects, are just that - extras. Last thing I ever wanted was to be known for is effects, even though that seems to be a trend I'm not doing a lot to counter. LOL

Frame by frame...yep, sounds like you really like this - that's pretty high praise! hehe...and here's a not-so secret secret: there is not a ton of tiny things to catch, and the tiny things that may be there don't necessarily make that big a difference to the AMV overall. If you can't notice them, they probably don't do much (except satisfy my outrageous need to maintain logical storylines in my videos, regardless how outrageous those storylines may be).

Ah, so you like both trailers! That's cool...I loved the Badassdom trailer - it sent me literally rushing out to make this video. I wish I could have made mine more closely match the original, but since AC doesn't have people actually summoning demons, throwing bean bags, sparring and getting their entrails ripped out..well...I had to make do with fake fangs and some lightning.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. Can't wait to see it on the big screen at Sakura Con!
