:? Why? An E6300 costs nearly the same as the X2 you did suggest. From your proposals to the maximum budget is a gap of nearly $100. So there is still room for additional expenses on MoBo and RAM, if necessary. For some bucks more (if at all), you get an kick ass system that rivals much more expensive AMD systems. Check the price for the FX 62. The CPU alone exceeds the budget with 40%.
yea thats what im saying
it can compete with the FX-62 , for a fraction of the cost, runs cooler, can achive a 100% OC (mainly means with a good amhsf you can get to where the E6600 is on stock ;) ) , uses less power

but what Kariudo is saying , did anyonme check the prices of ram lately ?
its very expensive ......
so that alone is gonna boste the price to god knows where

the ram im getting alone costs $325 for 2GB (2x 1GB) DDRII-800, cl-4, 4-4-4 - 12

Hi, I am the person building DJ_Ultima's computer. I was looking through all your suggestions and it really helped me find what suits her needs. What she wants is a computer that has a lot of headroom for upgrades in the future; a computer to last her 10+ years. So here is what I found.

CPU
Motherboard
Memory
Video Card

Total (w/shipping): $465.51

The case is rather abitrary and weight is the only thing she cares about. Since she is going for longevity, I'll probably throw in a good power supply. Too many times I have seen those included power supplies die, destroying all the internals. The video card is pretty nice since in addition to having VIVO, it will probably not be obsolete for some time. The motherboard is very nice too, supporting lots of features that will be usefull way down the road (socket AM2, 32GB of RAM, etc.). The CPU is an awesome value (they are having a sale). I just stuck with the memory mentioned before since it is the best stuff I could find. Basically, DJ_Ult wants me to go through a peer review before she goes ahead. I know right now the system doesnt leave a lot of money left, but I was trying to go for the biggest band for the buck. Thanks...

all those parts are obsolete already

that comp will probably last 5 yrs 7 at most

The E6300 is the best bang for buck, its a $100 more but well worth it

the vid card is fine , are you planning on heavy gaming ?

you can get the buget ECS core2duo mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813135022

the ram I would recomend DDR 800 but there way to expensive so its probably better to stay with 667 if your on a buget

TV input
S-VHS input
Composite input

Yeah it has composite input for the video, but not the audio. Also the card is craptaculur. It's only $20, and you get what you pay for.

Hey... not sure if anyone is still checking up on this thread, but I wanted to say thank you for all of the suggestions. Between what was said here and what my friend put forth, I think we've managed to come up with a good combo of stuff that'll really help me get the most out of my money. Hopefully, everything will work out when it gets purchased and built in the next month or so.

So, thanks again! ^_^
