True Tears, Japanese... etc...?

Hi there, Nya-chan (aka Wolfii) here.

Well, ummm, I'd like to announce a release of my first (well, not really, it's the second one... but the first one was never released to public... and for good reason... made from one episode of anime in WMM... gosh ><

Well, at least it didn't have subs)

Ahem.

...of my first AMV. This AMV was submitted to Czech AnimeFest and it got 7th place out of 12, which I consider great success, woo! \o/

I will work on some more things, so please, consider giving me some feedback, so I can see where are my strong and weak sides ^^;;

Warning: This AMV has NO EFFECTS (it's just simple cut video). Also, it has JAPANESE LYRICS. So if any of it is no-no for you, you probably don't want to see it (but heck, you can give it a try ;+)
Also, the first minute can be slow (and know that it is already shortened...) just be prepared for it, okay? ;+)

Alright. I downloaded it because of the nice presentation. Actually I think it´s pretty good for a second amv. Well done.

Pros:
-Quality. First I thought: "Oh man... 320x240?", but it´s alright for the small ressolution. Of course there were some moments where the codec didn´t worked that good, but it still looked decent at fullscreen, but I do would think about a switch to XviD or h.264.

All in all it looked better than a lot of vids I know with higher ressolution.

-The editing was alright. Yeah the first minute of the main vid might be "boring" (I´ll talker later about it), but the rest was ok. I didn´t saw any real mistakes or big flaws.

-No effects. You know... good amvs don´t always need effects to be good. I´m really happy to see no half ass cheesy effects here. I just suggest minor effects like a black&white filter for flashbacks in the video.

-It´s a good WMM vid. A vid where you don´t see that it is made in WMM and I like that. I dislike stuff that´s obvious noobish WMM use like... You definatly will know some of the text presets that everybody uses. This blue background, white font, text flying around in the background...

Contra (not a negative point):
-Interesst. It´s not really your fault, but the video won´t attract many people. Why? Yeah the song is in japanese so I don´t undertand the lyrics and I never saw the anime before so I can´t say if it would attract a fan of the anime.

Thanks for insight (and good acceptance ^^), I'll just answer few of your points (or maybe correct them):

It's actually 640x360, and, I consider doing h264 version - this low it's mainly because I uploaded version for Fest, which has limit of 2000 kbps, if I recall , so... Also I was running out of HDD space at the time. I have 720p RAWs and will have 1080p too, even, so I'll probably redo it at least to higher resolution.
And I DID follow that xvid guide ;+) (very useful, mind me)

I tried black and white for flashbacks, but it just seemed bad to me, so I left it just be. Maybe should've played a bit more with that there.

It's not WMM vid ;D It's done in Vegas, actually :+)

And, hmm, yeah... I guess this AMV is mainly for those, who know True Tears (brings something new in the story, even)... so next time, I'll try to be more general... and use English song ;D

Oh yeah. Now that 320x240 must have been a bug of my player. I don´t think that it happens often.

Vegas? God I´m tired. When I wrote the answer I just read something from WMM and than I thought you used it for editing here.
