If you're not using wmm, skip down halfway through that guide and read the part about using DirectShowSource to open the file in Virtualdub. Your avisynth script will be the same.

Although I don't really want to mention it, new versions of VirtualDub (and I do mean VirtualDub, not VirtualDubMod or whatnot) can support importing WMV through a plugin since the plugin interface was introduced in 1.7.5. The only thing there is that the plugin to do it is still in its birthing stages and there are apparently some sync problems associated with it still - but at least it's getting there. Likewise the FLV and MOV plugins are still early in development and have things to hammer out. The only one that seems pretty mature at the moment is the MPEG-2 input.
