First Uploaded AMV - technical problems?

Post by SrgtWilco » Sat Aug 04, 2007 2:41 pm

Well, after about a year of guide study, I finally have my first upload to the org...and I think it may have a few bugs. Mostly, I've noticed that the audio seems to skip intermittently, and there may be some minor bugs with the video. You can watch it here -

Anyway, just let me know what you think, and maybe what I can do better next time. Thanks!

A whole year of guide study? Wow. If it's really true, then I'm impressed beyond words.

I'll check it out and let you know my opinion! :D

Ooh. And I love Yoko Kanno, and the nice compression used!

Well, on and off - it's not like I devoted every single week to sorting through the guides, what with school, procrastination, real life, etc. But I will say that I started editing a year ago this month, knowing absolutely jack about avisynth, compression codecs, interlacing, and really computers in general, and by now I think I have a fairly good grasp on things.

Hmm. I must say that for a first AMV, I was pleasently surprised. I would work a little harder on sync, the audio sounded fine to me (must have been your player), and the video quality looked quite good.

Meh. 3.50/5, because it was slightly better than average, but still in need of work.

Yeah, the synch was one of the weirder parts of the project - I'm well aware that it's off in a number of places; that's because the original, studio-produced vid that opened Wolf's Rain was off in a number of places. I basically duplicated all the scene cuts and fades from the original into my own video, so I suppose that led to a few awkward-looking scenes. In any case, it only turned out so well because this is not the first video I've produced - only the first I've uploaded. Glad you liked it, though.

Video quality wasn't bad. The song was clear (no probs). The scene selection could have been better. Like code said, your syncing could be better (it would have flowed alot better. I would also add that you had some clips running quite longer then they should(could go along with what we said about sync). Can't wait to see what you do later ^.^ You seem to work hard. Kep it up.
