YasumiCon AMV Contest - Official Rules and Deadline

Post by BishounenStalker » Fri Jun 22, 2007 11:13 pm

General info:

- Digital entries only. NO VHS. Entries on DVD should be mailed to:

Rachel Daniels
8390 S.W. 122 St.
Miami, FL 33156

Entries must be received by the deadline. No exceptions.

- For FTP entries, Divx, MPEG2 or Huffyuv Video, and mp3 or Wav Audio are our prefered encoding methods, and will produce the least compatibility issues. Using any other codec, requires you to include the codec(s) with your submission, along with reasonable documentation/instructions for installation. Exception: We do not accept RealMedia files.

We'll make a good faith effort to view all entries, but if we can't get it to play, it won't be judged. So its in your best interest to either use the standard codecs we mentioned or include the Windows Codecs required to play them along with your submission. The use of "experimental codecs" is strongly advised against

Submit your FTP requests to: blueneon@gmail.com

1. Deadline. All entries must be recieved by August 1, 2007. No exceptions.

2. Studio Bumpers. They are allowed but those persons or groups who use bumpers, must include a bumper-free version of each video to be judged, to allow for impartial review. If you only send us a bumpered copy of your video, it will not be judged.

3. Explicit lyrics. Mild language is acceptable, but since Yasumi-Con will be an all ages show, anything beyond a couple of curse words could be considered inappropriate. We will try to look at this on an individual basis, and should an audio track be found to go beyond what we would be comfortable showcasing, we will pull the entry, and notify the author with the opportunity to resubmit[*] a censored version.

4. Violent Footage. This will be allowed, but overt and/or horrific levels may cause your AMV to be pulled from the contest with notification sent to the author, who may be given the chance to resubmit[*].

5. Provocative / Innuendo / Hentai Footage(with artistic intent or otherwise). The same conditions as in guidelines 2 and 3 apply here. (If you think your AMV may be inappropriate for small children, you may wish to enlist some creative editing to ensure that it will be accepted)

6. Categories for Judging. Here's the line up: Best Drama/Romance, Best Comedy/Parody, Best Action, Best of Show. We may also come up with some additional awards to recognize particularly skillfull or interesting videos as the judges see fit, but once again this is a maybe, the first four are guaranteed. Runner ups for the main categories may be recognized as subject to prize availability.

7. Entry Quantity. Amount of entries will be limited by individual, not by studio. Our intention is to allow a maximum of three (3)[**] entries per person, with the limitation that only one (1) can ultimately win a prize.
We came up with this idea to give contestants a chance to get more of their work exposed and increase their chances with more entries, and to hopefully encourage competiton by preventing any one person from sweeping the contest.

8. All entries must be of good compression quality, and free of subtitles unless they are essential to the AMV's concept. This goes double for videos using licensed source. If you're going to use fansubs -- especially for licensed series -- don't advertise it.

9. All entries must be accompanied by a .txt file, either on the DVD or with your FTP submission, with your real name and address, and phone number or email address. Include the song, artist, and anime(s) used in each video.

If you have any questions, you can either PM me here at the Org, or email me at rachelthedemon@yahoo.com.

Good Luck, and happy editing!
