Your Typical Compression
Just wondering, since obviously we don't upload our huge Huffy AVIs or Mpeg2 files up to the org for download, what do you typically compress your audio and video into before puting them here for download?

The intended meaning is "obsolete", which can be gleaned from any modern dictionary.amvwizard wrote:what is moot....trythil wrote:http://x264.nl/

I do xvid compression with Vdub using 1st pass set to 45mbs. If the video is over 5 minutes, or the first pass isn't pretty enough, I'll raise it a little gradually till I find what I like. Or, if the first pass is perfect, I'll lower it till I can see a difference. I typically use this script for the resizing and a little filtering:
Convolution3d(1,8,8,8,8,3,0)
BicubicResize(480,352,0,0.5)
For the audio, I use Besweet to go from wav to mp3 and then attach it with Nandub. I used to use a different audio compression, but the file size was notably bigger with no change in quality (to my non-expert ears).
I tend to prefilter a lot depending on the source, so I rarely have to change my distribution method. As long as it gets me a clean vid under 50mbs, I'm happy.
