Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

A video I would like everyone to see

Post by Kearly » Fri May 27, 2005 4:11 am

Hi! I'm not sure if very many people remember me. I originally joined this website in late 2002, mainly as a means of asking tech questions and learning some of the basics of video editing. I eventually became very involved in the chat forums, posting several hundred posts on my previous account. I left this website for a year and a half after posting my very first video, and for a while, I thought I was done with AMV's and with this site. And if anyone here actually remembers me, brownie points will be awarded. : )

Fast forward 2 1/2 years, I've changed Universities, changed my major (to one that centers around video production), and I'm happy to say hello again to a-m-v.org! The guides and helpful message board exchanges I recieved here were the first baby steps in helping me change my life and I'm happy to contribute any AMV here that I can.

This past year was pretty difficult, I just finished my 5th year of college, and yet I have not yet completed a bachelors degree (the result of my long search for a "calling" during my first 3 years of college). It sounds almost like a line out of Van Wilder, but amazingly, next year I will be a 6th year Senior at my university. I'll skip the details for now, but I'll say that this video is something I have struggled with for 7 months, even though it looks like I made it on a weekend. Even though I should feel down right now considering my R/L circumstances, I feel that this year so far has been successfully, if only because I am able to bring show everyone this video this morning.

The video is called America. The idea came to me when I heard the song featured in this video. It reminded me that like America, Japan (as reflected in anime, at least), has a strong taste for consumerism, sports, and like us, they think watching a good ol' ass kicking makes for good TV. But really, I just made this video because the song is damn funny and any decently made video would probably be funny too. The video features 23 different animes, as well as some non-anime surprises. If you've seen a lot of anime, theres a good chance you might see one or two things you find funny. :)

Feel free to leave opinions (I need some! :P ). A friend of mine said he thought this would be a classic on a-m-v.org, I think he was just flattering me, but really all of you will end up being the judges of that. Thanks for your time, and enjoy the video!

Nice one; I got a kick out of it. Certainly good for a first video. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

I just watched that movie for the first time last night, so this video was especially funny.

Great Job on the video. Like Icy, I look forward to your work in the future ^_^.
