geting a new hard disk. got some questions
im geting a new hard disk tomorow (which i should have got today. but errr, some dodgy problems with the company that the comp shop im geting it from was having. lack of sulpies. and then i got realy pissed and a freind started laughing at me, then i called him a hypocrite because he used too call his isp like 5 times a day when he was upgrading his conection and it took them forever but i never laughed at him about it, but thats because i allways dl stuff with his broadband when im at his place. then we had a fight and stuff, then we just went and played track mania. and thats my diary entry for today).
but anyway, im geting a seagate 120GB/8MBcache/pata100 drive (and ive allready got a 40GB disk). what i wana do is have my 40GB as the primary disk for installing programs and probably games. and my 120GB drive i wana split into two partitions. one for backing up videos/programs/music and that sort of thing. and the other mainly for video editing. with the way i edit i usualy end up with 50MB/epp divx files (vegas has no problem using them) and then use the bait and switch method with vob files. but curently ive only doen this with basic amv's that have no effects/transitions, just normal clips put togeather. so two questions.
1 - how should i split the 120GB drive for back-up/vid editing ?
2 - if i use the bait and switch with vob files, in more complex amv's with fansy keyframed effects and stuff, will it still turn out as its supose to or will i get wierd scrambled footage or something ?

Your new drive should come with installation software, just follow the instructions and you should be ok. You don't need to reinstall xp. I don't know why you would want more than one partition if you only have one os.
If you want to, install the drive, start the computer, right click on the my computer icon and click on manage drives, right click on the new drive and use the format sys built into xp,

Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

well, the reason i want to reinstall winxp is because my files are curently everywhere. start>programs is almost two rows big, theirs only space for about 8 more icons on my desktop, my documents is filled with so much crap all over the place. and the state of my d drive is just scary. basicaly my pc's a mess and i wana start over when i get my new disk. im even deleting all my source files and re-encoding them, just to make things beter
