Why won't it let me download anymore?

Post by Jadekitty » Sun Apr 18, 2004 6:33 pm

ok, i have been a member for two weeks. the only thing i can download is local.

This is the story:

well, i had recently downloaded four music videos and i went on to a fifth and it said that i was attempting to download too soon from my last attempt please wait 60 seconds. well i did and it told me again and i thought, well maybe its because i have dial up. so instead i waited a half an hour and it still wouldn;t let me. so i went to bed. that was at 4 in the morning. i wake up and try again at 4 in the afternoon and it still says i'm attempting too soon. ok i THINK 12 hours is long enough but... what is wrong? i don;t understand.

Try giving the videos you have downloaded a star rating. I guess that's not it, but it's worth a shot.

Do you have a download manager or accelerator of some sort? I read that the org hates that for some reason. If so, try disabling it.

If you're using internet explorer, you probably need to clear your cookies.

log out of your account and close the browser
right-click your 'internet explorer' icon and go to 'properties'
click 'delete cookies,' 'delete files'
click 'settings', then 'view files' and delete any cookies that remain
click 'clear history'
Then open up a new browser and log back into your account, try the download again.

As long as you haven't defaulted on a pledge, you should be able to download. If it were the star rating, it would give you an error and tell you to fill them in before you try downloading a new vid.

If you're *not* using Internet Explorer, try Opera - it worked for a good week before dying when I tried it.

Ah, well, you got it working, so nevermind. ;p

If you get that error in the future (especially when it's for a specific vid page), try clearing your cookies. That usually works for me when I get that.

Heh, somehow I doubt that's the type of customer testimonial that'll motivate lots of people to try it. I've found firefox is better, at least as far as stability goes.

Both work good, but I ultimately chose Opera cause it's better on the resources and is easier to use IMO
