Emerging into Cons for the first time...but I have an issue.

Post by dbz_doomrider » Wed May 28, 2003 9:59 pm

Finally, I am going to enter my music video into a con. I am going to go public, for the first time, and I realize I have a concern---

I was wondering, how trustworthy it is....after all, I am giving my real name, address, telephone number, etc....It's a little weird to give away all the personal info to me first hand, I just want to know about other peoples experiences with cons, how safe the information is..I mean, it's serious enough to me I have to ask, so perhaps I can get some insight into this?

Thanks,
Ian

It's pretty safe. All cons care about is your video anyways.

For Fanime Con, we only have this information as a record to where videos came from so in the case we need to contact the creator we have the ability to. The contact information is kept only to the AMV staff and is never released to the public in any way.

Your going to have to give your real name for the signature anyway. Depending on what con you send to, most require a release form from you with your legal signature.

I've never heard of a con giving away info for marketing purposes, but maybe you should stick with established ones until you feel more comfortable.

Thanks, thanks very much.....naturally, I managed to bungle it anyway, and I signed the submission form with my alias '-_-.

But, thanks anyway, I will start the entering.
