Finally done! U2 / Utena Black Rose Saga AMV

All right! Yes, there are like six million Utena videos out already, but hardly anyone does anything on this arc. (Maybe because most people don't like it. Bah, I say. More room for me.)

Anyway, it's simple, no effects, pretty brisk pace, almost action but not quite. I had a lot of fun working on it, at least when the file itself wasn't being a hassle.

The song is "The Fly" by U2, and the link is:

It's a summary sorta thing of the Black Rose arc from the POV of the Black Rose Duelists. The song is from U2's "postmodern rockstar" Achtung Baby phase, and in my not so humble opinion, it rules.

LOL. That doesn't narrow it down much.

But cool.

BTW, I need to put up a disclaimer that it makes approx. 99% more sense if you're a huge nerd like me and know the Black Rose arc inside-out.

It makes about 50% more sense if you've seen the arc at all. Otherwise, I guess it's pretty incoherent. Ahem.

I dunno, I just don't have teh sk1llz to make a character-profile video make sense with no prior knowledge of the series. Maybe I should try that next time. Hmm.

In spite of all the complaining you do about your lack of skills, that's a pretty damn good video. It made a fair amount sense to me, just by listening to the lyrics, and I've never watched an episode of Utena.

Now I'm curious about how your skills have improved relative to your previous vids, so I need to download those.

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment. I worked pretty hard on it, and although some things didn't turn out as I'd liked, (I'm repeating myself from the notes, aren't I) it was a fun challenge. I'm excited at having improved and hope to do even better next time.

And I'm amazed that it made sense at all. Yay! Maybe it's an inkblot. Or less complicated than I think it is. Either way. That is good. At the very least I hope it's entertaining, high energy etc. At the very very least I'm a fanatic about staying on beat (uh, usually), so it shouldn't be outright painful.

Heh, I'd hope it's improved... Though I still like the first one (Sea of Stars), simply from having a great song and some nice eye-candy visuals. This is twice as complicated as anything I've tried before.

most people don't think their work is ever up to par with others.

btw, nice vid, though I haven't seen Utena yet..so there isn't much I can say, that and I wanted to kill someone in the chat at the same time.
