Save Me, Class F Idiot

Post by The_McLaughlin » Fri Apr 22, 2016 2:54 pm

Look I finally stopped being lazy and made some stuffs....
First one here is one I started before AMV Roulette this year, but was still putting in some finishing touches. I submitted a fairly similar version to Sakura Con, but it didn't get in.I did see that it did play in the amv theater there though so you may have seen it there, but I did change a few things from that version to this one.
I really like the way it came out actually. I'd kind of had a hankering to do another One Piece amv, but when I hit the skypeia arc my interest in the series kind of started to go down. Until I got past that arc... that for some reason I just really didn't like, the Water 7 arc and Robins story made me fall back in love with the show again.... and now it's pretty much been a binge watch since. I finally hear the song and almost instantly thought of Robins arc and thus this amv was born. Enjoy.

The second video was from the first round of AMV roulette this year. This my first year doing an org contest. I'm glad I did I have one video that I really liked that I'm waiting for the Final Fantasy VII to finish and then upload. However in the mean time I figured I can go ahead and release the other rounds videos once they're ready to go. This video I do not feel is my best work, however it is my first time venturing into the category of fun or comedy. So for a first attempt I don't think its too bad of a video. Originally I was going to work on this a bit more after amv roulette was over, but I eventually decided that without re working the whole concept and video I probably wouldn't be able to make it much better, and just decided to leave this video as is and release it. So it's not my favorite amv I've done, and it's not my best work by far, however I'm still relatively happy with it even if it is just a let me experiment and try a category I don't edit a lot kind of video. Enjoy

For "Save Me", you had some really great moments in it (especially the parts from 1:50 - 2:18 and 2:32 - 2:58). I just feel that a lot of the best parts of the video were followed up with scenes that didn't really match the movement of the previous scenes. And because of this, the flow kept getting broken and the energy of the song and scenes didn't get carried over from segment to segment.

And for "Class F Idiot", you definitely picked the perfect song for that show. I just feel that your scenes needed even more movement and cuts in order to keep up with the fast pace and energy of the song. Not bad for your first time trying out the fun/upbeat genre though  .

Thanks for the advice. I can see the flow feeling off in Save Me. I was trying to find clips to match the lyrics more than go for for the flow and then kind of just tried to add some fades and stuff like that to make it transition a bit better. I'll try to work some more on my flow in addition to that for my next one.
