Final Fantasy OSTs

Post by Lone Wolf » Fri Feb 28, 2003 10:21 pm

I really love the great music produced by Nobuo Uematsu. I'm thinking about buying the original soundtracks. I have a question though: do the OSTs contain the MIDI, in-game sounding music or does it have all of the songs done by the orchestra? I don't really like the MIDI sounding songs.

I have the OST's for ff7-10 and they all contain the music directly from the game, I believe there are some compilations out where he took his favorite songs and recorded orchestrated versions (these are REALLY good), but I don't know the title of the cd. I'm sure someone else here will be able to tell you though. Just so you know, the quality on the the ff8-10 OST's really isn't that bad despite being synthesised, you may wanna try dling some of the songs to see if they're tolerable before buying the cds.

Yes, and yes. The OSTs are the original sound versions straight out of the game. But there ARE plenty of CDs of orchestral arrangements available, mostly of FF6, FF4, FF8, and FF9. Plus other original vocal compositions inspired by the games, featuring Risa Ohki (who has a gorgeous voice, IMO). FF7 got a "Reunion Tracks" album containing 15 selections from the original sound version (which Uematsu himself hand-picked as his favorite compositions for that game, so I've heard) plus three bonus orchestral arrangements: FF7 Main Theme, One Winged Angel, and Aeris' Theme. Plus there are a boatload of FF piano collections albums ^_^
