I actually made this for Valentines Day last week, but I got a little nervous because I knew there would be a lot of good romance videos coming out

I agree that there are problems with the overall pace. I find that I really like videos that are fast paced much better, so I think my editing reflects this... even when it shouldn't. It is definitely something I can work on. The only part of the video that I actually meant to be a little silly was the part with Fakir blushing after finding duck was a duck, but I thought the music kind of allowed for it there. Looking back, I can see how some of the other parts can be seen as silly, but I actually meant for them to be serious. Even so, if I understand what parts you are talking about, I think I would have had to give up a lot of the lyric sync if I took them out, which is what my whole video was based on, so I'm not sure what else I would have done for those parts yet. I am glad you were able to enjoy it overall though ^.^ and thank you for your commentsTaite wrote:The main issue I had with this amv was how oversynced it was. It matched the beats fine and everything, but the pace of the amv was too fast for the song. That, and the atmosphere, which was nice at some points and not at other points, particularly when a scene was much too silly to match the mood of the song (ie: toradora/ouran parts...).
However, I really admired the lyric synch, and that's the main reason why I kept watching. I tend to be a sucker for these kinds of videos. It was heartwarming seeing how nicely done the lyric sync was, and considering I've seen most of these anime, it was better in some parts as well (particularly the NANA segments).
So it's not technically flawless, but it was a decent enough watch and left me feeling happy.
Yes, pacing is something I need to work on. I think at this point it is about finding that balance between what I like to see (since I really don't like slow videos) and how to really set the mood for a video. It's something that I will have to keep working on. Thanks for your comments, and I'm glad you liked it overall ^.^Shin-AMV wrote:I pretty much agree with Taite. It had good lyric sync for the most part, and while the beat syncing was good it was paced a little too fast that it took away from that kind of sentimental/cathartic feel it was building at. Overall a good watch though.
Pace was pretty fast, yes for this type of song. Video wasn't that bad though. I would suggest instead maybe focusing on syncing, try to focus more on feeling the song with the footage you're using. Maybe you can figure out the right pace at times, maybe using the right scenes/or if you're getting into the anime with the music I guess. It's all good practice and learning though!EimiJ7 wrote: I agree that there are problems with the overall pace. Thank you so much for your comments and advice, I'll definitely think about the visual flow more in my future AMV'sWarlike Swans wrote:Have to generally agree in regards to the pacing being too fast. You also have some scenes don't visually flow into each other well (differences in color and use of space), which adds to the pacing issue. That said, the scene selection is very sweet and really carries the whole thing. Pulling off a romance AMV with various anime is hard, and I think you did it effectively, so![]()
Would have preferred Leonard Cohen though.
Thank you for your comments, I will try to learn different types of ways to edit since my style at this point does depend so much on sync. Thank you so much for your encouragement too, I know if I keep at it and try new techniques and styles I'll be able to improvexDreww wrote:Pace was pretty fast, yes for this type of song.
