Election D

Post by Infinity Squared » Thu Jul 22, 2010 6:53 am

Guess some of this will make sense to Australians following the upcoming election. And other parts will make sense to those who have seen Durarara. Hoping those that pay attention to both will get it the most... but either way, there you go...

At first, I kept thinking that none of the sounds matched what was happening on screen. But the middle and end were AWESOME. I love the critic reviews

omfg. It's a trailer.... and Durarara!!?!?! This is like my dream come true (even if I don't follow Australian politics.)

/gets

From :18-:29, It didn't look like much matched the audio, and the text was pretty plain, but everything before and after was amaaaazing.

Even though I don't really know who the people are, I still enjoyed it very much. It was intense like a real trailer, and had the same "format," if you will. The music blended nicely together, and during the middle and end, the scenes were especially well fitted.

It was actually kind of funny sometimes too, like :44-:46. I don't know, I just kind of smiled :P The reviews at the end were hilarious as well xD
I can definitely see people at AVCon getting excited about various aspects of the video (it's Du-effin'-rarara!!, it's about Australia, the dramatic scenes fangirls will love, other well-known and liked anime characters mentioned near the end, etc.)

Even from a technical aspect, it was still well-done. Good cuts and definitely scene selection. The text, like I mentioned, wasn't really anything special (in terms of look, definitely special in terms of content) but it's not like I mind. Oh, and there was just a perfect amount of dialogue and other audio.

My particular favorite part was 2:00 to the end. The music fit that part so well that I smiled.
I'm pretty sure I'm biased (I mean, a Durarara!! trailer...? Not to mention a well-edited trailer? How could I ask for more?) but this was fantastic. I enjoyed it immensely, and I'm interested to how it does at AVCon (good luck!)
5/5 <3

I was... Kind of underwhelmed a bit, which is disappointing, because I saw your name + Durarara and was thinking "OMGYES". I dunno. I didn't feel the connection between the source and the anime. :( I think it might just be a cultural thing though. The review parts was hilarious and nicely intergrated, and the middle part was definitely the best.

Mmm, that's ok... I've sort of thought this probably will not have "global" appeal being it's about something quite specific but anyway, thank you all for the comments.

I'll admit that there have been a few spots where the audio didn't match what was being shown but for an anime about gang warfare, there's a serious lack of gun footage :P

There needs to be more Durarara lovin'!

Well... For a comedy amv it was decent. For an actual trailer though, I gotta admit it fell short. There was alot of times the audio/FX didn't seem to work with the vid IMHO.
I'm not sure I should even rate this since I didn't get many of the jokes...

Ehh.. I dont know 3/5
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson
