but for the last couple years it seems koop has made one of each, for each year:

one video with tons of original content and effects and another "easy video" riding on either pretties or simpleness

I don't know why I'm taking this seriously but I'm bored so...

I think someday we may look at now as when AMVs finally started diversifying beyond the same old drama/comedy/action that it's been since the start. Over the last year or two I've seen more and more people doing experimental stuff that is quite different from the normal video and also more people seem to be appreciating that type of thing. I recall when I started the handful of really unusual videos around were mostly ignored. These days that's changed enough that when Doki recently released a comedy that's very much a DokiDoki video and a simply edited but unusual inspirational drama the unusual drama thing got more praise in the announcement forum. D!gital me was a VCA finalist in several categories. I had some of what I consider the best editors on the org (and Orwell was in it as well) to edit to someone reading a bunch of numbers. There's at least one video in the AWA Pro contest that tried some rather unusual editing and it's gotten at least as far as a finalist. I've seen several attempts where the editor tried to tell their own story that was completely separate from the sources story.

Granted, a lot of the oddball stuff comes off as a bunch of pretentious art school type of crap. But still, perhaps in the future this will be viewed as when AMVs started to mature some. There will always be power fantasy action, naive romance, and fanservice comedies of course because you all are a bunch of powerless freaks who have no idea what a real relationship with another person is like and need a good laugh and a tittie shot to momentarily forget how pathetic your life is. Even so, we're finally realizing there's potential to be more than that.

honestly I've lost track... but it seems this 3d thing is big. I don't know about 3d, but it is really cool when the environment around you is amv, like true fiction or olin. I have an eye stigma basically making me see through one eye and those 3d glasses don't do dick for me. I would be VERY sad if someone made a '3d' amv and I couldn't watch it :/ very sad

I think the easiest method too total immersion is to block out portions of the screen to give yourself the feeling of movement INSIDE the anime. It always works for me... Also I'd liked to dabble in audio alot. It seemed like it was becoming the next thing for a while but just stopped...

Holographic Hentai Music Videos

2HMVs

THOSE are the next steps.

Serious special fx amvs to comical non-fx amvs

It's all been DONE!

And now, with the advent of the 'dance' category of amvs, I don't think there will be an evolution until people try weirder shit like I did long ago.

Dramatic Dance amvs
Serious Comedy amvs

Weird...

otherwise, I'll just watch what koop does since I don't like editing lol

I wanna make a video with so much advanced 3d where when I have a character punching, it punches the viewer in the face.
