Half of these "Rookies" that were being pimped so hard are people that have fallen into the a-m-v.org IRC-clique as I like to call it. Most of them I've either never seen post on the boards or make a journal or ever really heard of their AMV =P.

So that can be done away with as well, cause like "Most improved" it's insulting to the other AMV artists.
Thats not true, I won rookie of the year my first year and have never once stepped into the IRC channel. I do agree it helps to get yourself known by posting on the forums though. How can someone vote for you if they don't know you and your vids?

Gome.
You're free to disagree as much as you want, that is your(and everyone else that IRCs) right :). To which I can respect that opinion, but ultimately I will be at a disagreement with it. Not saying either of us are right or wrong we just have different opinions *shrugs*.

I'm more in-line with Infinity's line of thinking. Making a good product/benig talented/working hard is one way to success. Who you know, and who knows you, however will get you to that same success spot, in some cases faster than the way mentioned above. That's just a rule of life, hence why I never used my IRC statement in a negative sense, it was just a statement. If it'd make the subject less tense, replace IRC with "a-m-v.org journals" or "MySpace bloggers" iunno lol.

But that last part of your post Koopiskeva, I do not understand. What is a Gome? Or do I not want to know, or will it cause me to roll my eyes =P.

I don't hate them, I just think this year it's pointless =P. From the thread it seems I'm not alone in that opinion either, which was the original point so I am most satisfied.

And you didn't answer my question!! *huffs*

I barely knew enough about the site to vote in the finals last year so I'm not inclined to say whether it was the same last year or not. If it did fall in the same pattern, then yes it was indeed pointless every other year and my topic is late.

Also you must not have read my first post Koop, I'm not benig grouchy. Anyone that knows me, which you do not so I am making this clear again, knows that I'm expressing my opinion and I clearly stated there is not supposed to be -any- malice towards anyone in these posts. That is why I try hard not to name-names or single any one video out. I was honestly excited to vote for the VCA's this year & I got disappointed so I wanted to see if anyone else was and brainstorm up suggestions as to what would make it better.
I don't post my AMVs up here to get site-wide popularity or win any awards. If I wanted an award I'd go enter my work in a con.
I appreciate your comments(honestly). But not your antagonizing(I looked up gome... very mature) & accusations, can we keep this topic from going any further into outright flaming?

You need both a good product and the right connections. That's true in AMVs and real life.

x3. Aria if you don't like reality go live in a box. This is the way of life, deal with it.

I agree. Just knowing people won't get you far if your product sucks to begin with. Sure, knowing people may help get your work out there faster, but if it isn't any good to begin with then who you know still isn't enough.
