Ideas, like
Bobo Balde, get better on the bench. The project that I'm working on is always, while I'm working on it, crud, intractable, and likely to be cancelled. The next project in the list is a much better fit, will edit cleaner, will take less production time, and will come out closer to the original idea.
Morepigs are largely to blame for the nosedive in my ability to finish videos since mid-2006. Worse, I wasn't much good at them either.
There is an idea on my to-do list that has been there for the last 9 years, and will probably be more than 10 years old by the time I get around to doing it. The good news is that the anime for that idea has come out on DVD in the US in the intervening time, and I don't have to worry about capturing like 20 tapes' worth of fansubs to work on it. This is the idea that, in a deep and fundamental sense, I started editing AMVs in order to do. Other stuff just got in the way.
Despite having a nonlinear editing system, I don't edit nonlinearly. I continue to start at 00:00 and go through the timeline front to back until I run out of audio, just as I did when I had one video track and effectively no nonlinearity.
