i usually find those people not worth even trying with, and stop watching their videos.
Yea, unfortunately it does happen. All it means really is that they simply dont care and there isnt much you can do about it. I met someone on a webcomic forum that makes AMVs and actually has an account here. I talked to him about how he should try adding sync to his videos and little bit of effects to spice things up. He flat out told me that he really doesnt care. He makes AMVs because he just feels like putting "an awesome anime to awesome music" and I didnt argue with him because I knew that he had seen good AMVs and that he just chooses to edit the way he does because he finds fun in the way that he edits. As much as I hate the "awesome anime with awesome music" and nothing else formula, I just remind myself that for the editor it's all about having fun and I cant really define what fun is for some people.

It kind of sucks when you compare it to hard working editors here on the Org, but that is what we choose for ourselves. It's unfortunate cuz I'd like to see more great editors emerge and see more of a dominance of AMVs like the ones made in here out there in the rest of AMV community.

Subs pretty much mean that an amv won't be up to our standards (and that is an important distinction, and there are always a few exceptions.)
I see it is a big fat sign of lacking effort. Lacking effort equals crap most of the time. I don´t want to talk about standards, but there is just a tiny little bar that everybody can reach if he just adds a bit work into the videos.

Beside the tiny little bar: Everybody can do what he likes to do, but shouldn´t complain afterwards about bad comments.

In before a richly deserved lock.

This topic is insipid and should never have been started.

I was gonna leave subtitles in my last video, in case you didn't get that it was a parody on crappy naruto videos

...but subs suck, so I didn't do it and neither should you if you ever wanna get anywhere in life and by life I mean this forum.

So recognize that the editor is not up to my standards. I pay extra attention to their video to give them feedback and mention afterward that it would be better to not have subs. Newbies are Newbies. You do what you can to encourage them to edit better. Sometimes many of them dont realize that it's that big of a deal until someone tells them.
When I see subs, I'm completely blown away by the intensity of them appearing on screen. After that, I tell myself: "I wish I could do that, but I can't right now". :?

My old videos have subs, mostly cuz there were no raws back when I made them. =/

lol But a long time ago, I got an opinion on it which said this:
WOW! what a great video! it was soo touching! i literally almost cried when i first watched it. ^_^ anyway good points hmm where to start? well for starters each scene went along very nicely with what avril was singing. almost all the scenes were perfectly aligned with the music. even so this creator really knows how to pick scenes. the video really moved me. most season's clip and characters are used correctly and timed well, right where they need to be. i'll admit i'm a digi-fan but most scenes caught me totally off guard!
i'm also glad some subtitles were left on. i don't think it would've had the same impact without them.
=/ So I dunno....sure they can be annoying, but as someone who use to have vids with them, I can also understand the views they're coming from...
But then again, it's much easier to obtain raws than it was back...then... lol.

This threads gonna get locked eventually anyways.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson
