It's not "personal" anymore.

True on Koji's statement. They liked anime, but not for the sake of the anime itself. They just wanted an excuse to satiate their own need for "uniqueness." How...gay. = /)v(ajin Koji wrote:I think they might've simply changed their minds.Miyavi-type wrote:In my opinion, those people never liked anime in the first place.
It isn't like I I waste my time on people like that anyways.
You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.

::nods:: A good friend of mine (er...former friend now) is like that...of course, pretending to like anime is a far cry from bleaching your hair white and wearing it in a mohawk. I kid you not.
Whether they like it or leave it, it doesn't matter, does it? It's their loss.

I'm not sure, but can there any cases of 'on and off' anime followers? or moderate anime fans? I think it might be possible with anime. I was this way when it came to street racing.
I used to attend street races religiously... until that shitty ass movie "Fast and the Furious" got released. Ever since that film came out, peckerwoods by the dozens started showing up to the tracks, and more practically every hour. Then it just got too crowded for me. There were too many spectators and not enough racers. Also because they were noobs, they didn't know the rules of the roads and congested the streets up really bad, making it easy for the cops to pull over even to most evasive racers. Really
if you ask me. Yet that doesn't mean that I don't like racing anymore, I still help friends modify their cars and stuff, still attend some races when it seems quiet, and still follow up on what new cars the Big American Three and the Big Japanese Five are churning out to the market.
This was also a case for one of my friends. She used to attend raves and didn't like the it anymore because it got far too crowded for her. The raves back then were small and underground, they were usually held in small abandoned warehouses and people would park their cars a couple blocks away from the scene. But a few years later, the raves were held in large arenas like Audio and unexpectedly exploded with a bunch of candy-ass wannabe e-tards showing up, trying to play grabass with her, and making a bad rep for raves by deciding to rape and die by overexhausting themselves... just as
.
Yeah, I'm aware that these two cases are completely different than the anime situation for they are 'out of the house' type activities. But it was what came to my mind when skimming through this thead

...guess it makes sense.
My best friend's little brother loves to rave about anime like he's the biggest anime fan of all time...but when I talk to him about it, it's obvious he doesn't really know what's going on in half the shows he watches. I can't help but wonder if he does it to just separate himself from the rest of the "crowd" He's done stuff like that before.
