Were you people not children? Are some of you not still children? Did you not squeal in excitement when that brand new He-Man figure, Transformer, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle was released and you made your mom RUSH to the store to pick it out but you can't find it and you run up to the man in the blue apron at Toy's R Us and say "DO YOU HAVE THE NEW SUPER RARE GAMBITT/SLASH/DINO-RIDER/BARBIE/ETC.?!?!?!?!?!?" And that man looks at you and points directly behind you. There it is, you just missed it because you were excited.
Now imagine if that same man shoved you to the floor, said, "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" and kicked you in the crotch. Then he takes that precious new toy and gives it to another kid whose family he knows.
That is the .org in a nutshell these days. A dirty old fucking guy who steals toys, curses to kids, and laughs all the way back to his roach infested trailer.
In short, it's bullshit....
Yes, NightOwl is pretty much correct about that. Though it is not a correct analogy in this situation.
If we were telling people that "Your AMV does not belong here because we do not like it", then you would be correct. However in this case, what we are saying is "Your AMV does not belong here because it is in fact, NOT an AMV at all".
The Key word in Anime Music Video is "ANIME". It is this item (the anime aspect) which allows it to be an AMV. without the Anime, it is simply a generic Music Video.
The videos in question which we are discussing ARE music videos, yes. In that they have have video set to music, in an entertaining way. But they lack the element that allows them to be anime Music Videos.
An anime music video can be simply called a music video(as a generalization), in the same way a Gas-Electric Hybrid vehicle can be called a "car" (we are assuming said vehicle is a car in this case for sake of argument). Though you can not call a Music Video (using say, Harry Potter as a source) an Anime Music Video, the same as you can not call a car (using an internal combustion engine) a Hybrid vehicle.
While both things share certain commonalties, one item from each of the examples (the Hybrid Vehicle, and the AMV in this case) have an extra element which makes them different enough from the other item to be identified as something different.
What you must keep in mind about NightOwls statement, is that the child in question went to a store where we was expecting to find the type of toy he wanted. I am assuming a Toy Store, or Walmart, or something of that venue in which you would expect to buy toys.
The problem with this is that people are comming to the ORG "toy store", expecting to find "toys"(Anime Music videos), and while looking for the "toy" in question happen to find a full sized working Hummer H2 sitting on the shelf instead of the action figure they wanted.
Normally the action figures are right here. But for some reason they arn't anymore because this Hummer is in their spot. The vehicle (which should not be on the shelf in the toy store in the first place) is taking up the room where toys (that actually belong at the store) should be.
The point I am trying to make (and I think I did a good job of that) is that you go to the toy store(animemusicvideos.org) when you want toys(ie: AMV's), and you go to a car dealership(mtv.com) when you want a car(ie: NON-AMV).
If that is not enought for you then here:
The full Golden Donut storage server is now available. This means you may upload the following:
-Anime music videos
-Anime-styled game cut scene videos (like Final Fantasy)
----------------------------------------
You may NOT upload the following:
-AMVs with excessive violence and/or sexual nudity
-Game-play music videos (you recorded yourself playing a video game)
-Live action/home videos
-Anime episodes/movies or other TV shows/movies
-Porn/hentai
-Warez/Crackz/Serialz
-Anything else that is not on the "you may upload" list
In this instance, I believe that Harry Potter Video falls under the "Live Action/home videos" catagory. (not to be confused with anime music videos that have live action elements, but in those situation there are standards you must keep in mind like: "the video must have some sort of anime wither raw of composited through out 80% of the total time of the video). Once again, it is that standard that seperated AMV's from non-AMV's.
Thank you.
