I don't know what AVIs YOU'VE been watching...niji tsuki wrote:Yeah... I know. You warned me, so it didn'ty come as a surprise. But what part of my avi's come out looking like pixeliscious crap don't you get? I'm serious. I friggin hate avi's, just about as much as most people hate wmv's. Avi's are big, they take up space, they ruin the sound quality, everything comes out liney - at least my avi's do. Is there some magic button I'm not pressing when I'm saving my videos?
(Oh, and ps - don't qoute my entire long rant XD It looks funny to quote someone's entire post when you really only want to point out one thing)
Not your typical AMV: So good, you'll cry

Wha-? Well that's a lot of help! XD (Something funny earlier - I asked Sailor Earth if there was a magic button I wasn't pushing and she answered, "Your brain" lol)aesling wrote:Yes.niji tsuki wrote:Is there some magic button I'm not pressing when I'm saving my videos?
Thanx man! You understand how I feel ^.^ I could go out and buy a big expensive program and spend forever on a video, but amvs are supposed to be for fun, a hobby, not time-consuming, money-eating work. (Ahh! Work! It burns!!!) Thanx dude... or dudette, whatever the case may beNiotex wrote:I seriously don't see what all the fuzz is about people.. For the record niji I wasnt hating. I thought it was a good video (as I stated in my original reply). I was just making two points...It is possible to make 4:3 widescreen, and to turn off the divx logo. Im sure you put alot of time and effort into your amv, so why not go that extra mile to make these two small adjustments? Thats all.
As for WMM...I use it myself, and find it easier and less stressful then other video editing software. So no hate here on that front.
The funny thing is, I see people hating on the WMM, yet alot of these people who spent a good amount of money on higher priced editors, STILL cant make a good amv. (no one specific..but its true)

Your hardware acceleration might be set at a low level. i know that happened to me before, and AVI files were distorted and choppy...niji tsuki wrote: My ownI don't know why they come out that way but they do. So how do I NOT make them come out that way?
Right click your desktop> click properties> click settings> click advanced>
you should see your Hardware acceleration with a scroll bar under it. If its in the middle, or anywhere but all the way to the right, that might be your problem. Your screen might go black for a second if you change the setting, but it will come right back up. That might be your problem.
btw, i just opened my wmm, and wanted to see how big latest amv would have been in avi, and the size skyrocketed from 43.5 to 792.5...Ill pass....

Well, it really depends on how you are saving your Xvid (or Divx, or whatever) when making an avi. If you are saving it as an Xvid (or whatever) directly out of WMM, then yeah, it's probably going to look like shit. I would recommend exporting from WMM as an uncompressed avi (huffy or lagarith) and then converting it into an Xvid in VDubMod. The org guides can tell you how to do this properly.niji tsuki wrote:Wha-? Well that's a lot of help! Would Xilisoft video converter do the trick?Kalium wrote:Yes. Export a lossless AVI, and it's going to be large. You have to encode it externally.obibyn wrote:btw, i just opened my wmm, and wanted to see how big latest amv would have been in avi, and the size skyrocketed from 43.5 to 792.5...Ill pass....

obibyn, I know you weren't hating on me. I said, "nobody on this thread (but Minion) was"
And I don't think I'm running on the same system you are. I tried the direction you gave me and it's not the same. Oh well.
And aesling, I think I might know what you mean. My Tamaki/Kuzco video went through Virtual Dub about 4 or 5 times, and it looks just fine. That might just be the trick I'm looking for.

I have to admit, this video contains everything I love. Because this video is so extravagantly great, I have decided to use this thread for the first
INTHESTO VIDEO APPRAISAL
complete with diagrams and shit
See, when I first opened the video and saw this:

I knew I had hit the jackpot. If there's one thing in the world I love, it's WinAMP visualizations. If you don't believe me, here's a scientific diagram proving that I love WinAMP visualizations:

See, nobody can argue with scientific diagrams, especially because I'M FUCKING ASIAN. But hey, this video didn't just top out a visualizations; it combined the two things I love best: visualizations AND DivX logos! Holy shit!

If you don't believe that I love both of those things in conjunction, here's another diagram to prove my point:

And we're not even done with the first minute of the video! But you know what else? As a fat Asian, I love to eat, and the first minute of the video even included my favorite food:

You may call me racist for implicating that Asians eat dogs, but here's a screencap from a live interview with an expert that came out on the History channel recently:

You know what else I love? Cloud. But there's always one problem I had with him: I thought he was too short! So you know what he needed? He needed an incorrect aspect ratio to make him look taller.

So now this video has four of my favorite things: trippy visualizations, DivX logos, food, and stretchy people. If you don't believe that I love wrong aspect ratios, I pulled out this book from my local library, authored by a professor at my university. People with PhDs are never wrong, right?

But then, we get to my fifth favorite thing in the world:

And this one is just me, commenting on the screencap:

But I shouldn't dwell too long on the clever use of technical editing, as strong as it may be in this video. Where this video really shines is in its artistic value, as witnessed in the following screenshot (I ran out of legitimate academic sources to cite at this point, so I just wrote on the screencap myself):

See, the greyscale means a lack of COLOR which means Cloud is DEVOID OF EMOTION which means he is FUCKING EMO AND THAT IS TRENDY. Furthermore, the RAIN symbolizes CLOUD'S METAPHORICAL TEARS and that is nothing short of BRILLIANT.
But hey, let's get back to the DivX Logo because I have a huge boner for it. I mean, what's better than a DivX Logo? A huge DivX Logo, and we can always get one of those by zooming in on a shot with the DivX Logo:

And even better than that? A fucking instant DivX Logo:

I decided to include a diagram of an instant overhead, in case you guys don't know what one is:

And on that note, I'm going to close this review, because I can't really think of any more glowing praise for this video.
