It's not a matter of who you are. It's a matter of asking a mod before you do it, and having a good reason for it.x_rex30 wrote:I can see where you're coming from. I don't mind when people do this, but it really bugs me when people get away with releasing non anime videos, that is for other sites and not this one.. but mods don't mind if you post those here depending who you are

Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Why not? The announcement forums are like the only way to know about stuff like this, unless you look in the new downloads page (which I personally never do). And to my knowledge, posting new encodes isn't against the rules or anything.Minion wrote:this isn't any kind of attack on your editing, keep in mind.
but why did you make an announcement for this?
cmon, i know i'm not the only one thinking it...
Yeah, I think h264 has become the new standard, which is why I wanted to re-encode some of them. I also was able to re-filter some of them, so the older ones in particular do look a lot better than the original xvid versions.Streicher wrote:I was always under assumption that h.264 is becoming standard. So encoding amvs in like that, is not really mindblasting nowadays. It is more expected.
Therefore making a thread like this seems a little bit akward to me.
Also you don't need VLC to play back AVC.
Btw: Have the announcement rules been changed?
And I think the only announcement rule that's been changed recently is that the videos have to be entered into the catalog, due to all the You-Tube linking.
Keep in mind, guys, this is just for whoever may be interested in the new encodes, and I understand it's not for everyone.
