And use those accounts to give as much of your competition as possible straight 1s, saying something to the effect of "ZOMFG THAT SUXED"

You know, I'd like to laugh at this.... if it didn't actually happen....

In order to get on the top 10% you have to suck a LOT of dick. A lot. Take this however you wish.

This is in fact what happens as dwp's last graph shows.

Suppose there was a video called POS that the world - if it knew about it - would collectively score with a 2. That vid would start out with an adjusted score of about 5. Theoretically, as more opinions/ratings were given, the score would approach 2. But the reality is...people don't stampede to watch bad videos. The word always gets around.

One of the tradeoffs of this scoring method is that bad vids will be overrated and with some exceptions, will remain overrated forever.

On the other side we have what someone called "hidden gems". HGs will be underrated by this scoring method and will remain that way unless - somehow - they becomes "un-hidden" and receive many ratings. The HGs at least have this possibility open to them where the POS generally does not.

And the HGs have one other advantage brought about by the fact that people generally only rate or opinionate the videos that they like. This produces the absurdly high population average (around 8). While this helps to inflate the score of a POS, it also puts the score of an HG closer to its theoretical average (keeping in mind that an HG by definition has few ratings/opinions).

I'm not suggesting that things get changed. But there are tradeoffs with everything and especially anything to do with statistics. You just have to understand all of what you're getting.

This smells a lot like jealousy. Senta MIller made the Otakon finals because he's damn good.

RAmen.

You have to respect someone who is good enough to go from having the audience all but booing at their title card (there was a lot of very loud groaning in the audience when it came up) to quickly changing their tune once they actually see the video and cheering and applauding when the video ended. The fact he's proven his skill by winning the action category multiple times at Otakon also tends to lend itself towards it simply being because he's a damn good editor, not because of what he used for sources.

Now if only he would learn to turn off his cell phone......
