Pretty much everyone maxes out pretty early, imo.
Why? Because when you are new you take more chances because you don't care.
I'm not going to beat SRV in terms of enjoyability and I'm not going to beat Arima Shinjikun in terms of artisticness. I'm just going to make videos that I think are good, but they'll never stand up to those.

How can you say that? Unless you plan to retire from making amvs, you never know what you'll come up with. 3 years ago, when I released Win I thought I had topped out. I then released 6 more videos that I believed weren't as good. These days though, I believe that 6th video (Tod) is actually a better one. And after that, I went on to release a lot of videos that I *KNOW* are better: Doujin Addiction, TheStarMan, etc. I've even got an idea for a drama video that I'm absolutely certain will blow away my previous drama entries.AbsoluteDestiny wrote:Pretty much everyone maxes out pretty early, imo.

Basically what I'm saying is... theres ALWAYS possibility to improve, until you give up.

My best one yet would be my Spriggan vid, it's in my opinion my cleanest and most original one (eventho it's a pretty generic action video), But i try new stuff every time i make a new vid, in my previous vids i've started to use more effects, and the one i'm making right now is also different from what i'm used to. I just try to be more original than the last, but it's hard to create something that well fitting like "Beginning of the End of Spriggan". But i got some pretty nifty ideas for my next couple of projects, so, well see if i can top my best till now.
I just thing that with doing stuff you might discover new stuff, and with new anime and new music comes new ideas. For AMV creators it's an ever evolving world, that as well as new technoligies and new ideas, your best might still be topped by a future new poject.

I beg to differ on that point also AD. Paul Kievets has 3 videos in the database, the last two are over two years apart, but Minimum is just as good as Technoshock, if not better. I'm editing better than I was two years ago and feel like I'm just getting the ball rolling (or will, once I Vegita makes his vid). And can list the names of dozens of editors that are still releasing unique and impressive videos.

I think that what you are saying is true so long as you are determined to believe it to be true.AbsoluteDestiny wrote:Pretty much everyone maxes out pretty early, imo.

It a self fulfilling prophecy 100% in my opinion.
"Once an expectation is set, even if it isn't accurate, we tend to act in ways that are consistent with that expectation. Surprisingly often, the result is that the expectation, as if by magic, comes true."
In your case I wouldn't advise working on you skill, as you already have tons of that, just the way that you think about it.
You are what is preventing you from making 'better' videos. Nothing else.

Weird to hear something like that from AD - the guy who always keeps it fresh, I thought.
Well, maybe that's just me being overly optimistic, but I always had this belief in creativity being infinite if you approach it the right way

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not dried up yet - but there's a uniqueness about those that comes from being new to something.
Once you settle in it's hard to get that back - you can do creative stuff but it's not quite the same. Some would argue that the mature stuff is better, and they'd often be right, but it doesn't have the same quality.

Yes but that's beside the point Zarxrax.
Keeping it new and unique is easy, just never do the same thing twice.
