Correct, correct. I have to admit, I spam a lot in this forum, but looking over my track record I think most of my spam is directed as attacks against folks who make silly statements, create troll posts, or in threads that have devolved into platforms for mod bashing/flaming.

What I do not like is when a subjects are brought up and argued over and over again, despite the fact that nothing comes of it every time except dividing people into "I am right" "No, I am right" type camps. And this is when I usually start with my real sarcastic posts. Of course, as sarcastic as they are, they should be taken with a grain of salt.

Certainly I have had my share of posts and thread starts that the mods have been deleted, and in hindsite, most of these deserved to be deleted or weren't worth keeping around for any length of time. Certainly I have not had anything terribly important deleted, I am not, nor is anyone else posting world shaking truths that the mods are desperately trying to hide from our eyes lest we learn too much.

Omni, I don't agree with your view that Kevin's withdrawl from the community was a copout, though. If I understand what was going on, he was genuinely tired, and was not having fun anymore. Really, you are something of a glutten for punishment if you continue doing a hobby that isn't fun anymore. He's moved on to other things, and I'm quite certain that Kevin is not sitting around twiddling his thumbs, sighing, and lamenting the passing of the good old days.

I do agree that there has been a lot of change to this forum. There's this saying in Ghost in the Shell...something like: "Overspecialize and you breed in weakness; it's slow death." In other words, change and variety is good, and the inclusion of fresh blood certainly keeps things from stagnating here.

When taken in the context of earthcurrent's last post it seems to me that
the issue here is growing pains. There's alot of amazing talent making
itself seen for the first time, and it should be considered when addressing
the issue of some aspects of the community backsliding or devolving. You
have to take the good with the bad. Without a villain there can be no
hero.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when these people get a few years on them and have to start acting like grownups. Maybe I'm just getting old, but things have changed and I'm not sure if it's for the better. I'm not ready to leave yet myself, but I could do with another break from the site to see if things get better in a few months.
Here's my take on this. Yes, the online community is getting younger, but the nature of the internet is allowing youths to voice their opinions about issues far more efficiently than even when I was a wee pup when the opinions of adults were pretty much the only one's that mattered. Did I have opinions when I was younger, certainly, but I didn't really have a place to express them freely, and schools, generally didn't and still do not encourage much in the way of free expression in their students.

Now, we have the internet, and youths have a places to go and express themselves, yet, as is regularly demonstrated on this forum, their command of how to best express themselves both on rational and emotional levels still need work, and certainly the same could be said for many of the older posters here as well. But practice makes perfect, and people change as they learn and get older. This might not always be for the better, but in general I think things will stay pretty positive.

Seriously, everyone needs to go to a big convention and meet people from the board. It puts things in a different perspective, and you're able to relate easier. It's much more fun to actually do things with people other than talk/argue over the internet. It's like a long-distance relationship, almost. I'm sad because almost everyone else in La Familia lives in Texas  so I don't get to see them. I probably won't actually get to hang out with my buds until the next AWA. That's a whole fucking year I have to wait! It's worth it, though. That was some of the best fun I'd ever had, and I didn't even go to the parties

I remember the old days, when people were just cool. The people like Joe, Kevin, Hsien, Brad, Nic, Tim, and Vlad. Now it seems like the whole scene has been taken over by little kids and is overrun with perversion, ignorance, arrogance, and immaturity.

The more I read, the more depressed I become with the bickering, the arguments, and the holier than thou attitudes I see here. The AIM chat room is particularly bad.

This site is a great resource, but I miss the days when it was little more than a database of videos and links. Things on this site have become way too personal.

my 2 cents. - Yes. Thats why I don't bother with the forums as much as I used to. It's annoying, it's user friendly, and it's attracted a lot of people who cant use anyhting except user friendly.

As far as the AIM chat, well, who uses that for AMV talking anyway?

Do you still have your Dr. Who vid(s)? I'd be very interested in seeing them. I am a huge Dr. Who fan. (My brother and I inherited my aunt Val's collection a while back. My brother now keeps it at his house. Since we'v eupdated it with fan-made reconstructions using telesnaps and audio tracks, we have every single episode :) )

Hmmm maybe I'm a little too off-topic here... PM me about it if they still exist heh.
