An abuse drop box? Just drop it into the moderator drop box and let them move it up to Phade.

Hey, just like a corporation!

Does it seriously work this way? I've tried couple of times, then my posts were removed from the moderator drop box and the vids still there.

But anyway... I couldn't care less if the video is removed or not: 99% of the people who abuse of the donut don't even know that they are actually abusing (because they don't read the rules): what's the point of deleting the video if they don't understand why? :P

I just considered that the bigger the site grows, the harder for the administrators/mods to track every problem down.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I like this idea. I kind of hate having to mail Phade when there is a major abuse and would like a system like this. Sadly, I've already mailed him about a number of abuses and it makes me feel like the video police :(. Then again, we did pay good money and people should follow the rules.

That would be a great way to bury Phade in complaints, methinks. If you're noticing people not reading and following the rules for uploading videos, then expecting a supserset of those people to read and follow the rules for "Report this Video" is, well, silly.

Well then, either the Org operates more like a corporation than I thought, or there needs to be some firing going on...

Last I heard, deleting vids is a pain. If they weren't excessive (violence, nudity), they were probably marked to be deleted later when it's easier to do that - it not being a priority since space isn't a huge issue just yet. I doubt they were just ignored.

If it makes you feel good, keep telling yourself that.

Hey All,

Yes, people putting up completely unrelated videos and such is a pain and really annoying, but there are currently two factors that are keeping them there for the moment.

The first is that is a big pain in the bootay to delete a video entry. I've made a tool to remove video files, but the database entry is much more complicated. I'm working on a tool for that, but it is still in the works. (Having a functioning programmers group would come in real handy for speeding that along.)

The second is that there is not an immenent need to have space created on the server. The Donut currently has several hundered gigabytes free. Removing a 30-50G crap video file isn't going to make that much difference. When the server starts to get to the 90% capacity mark, then I would worry about it.

I'm planning on creating some tools to make all the much more automated than the "manual" removal that is required now. The system will be easy for members to report bad entries and easy (just a few clicks) for me to "deal" with them. These tools should be ready before the end of the year, just in time for the Viewers Choice Awards.

Time is really really tight for me right now (I'm moving AGAIN, but this time it will be for an extended stay). Removing crap entries is low priority at the moment. Soon the priority will rise. In the mean time, take note of what shouldn't be around for when the system is up and running to "officially" report them. You may also politely let them know that they are doing a not-so-good thing by putting in bad entries.

I feel your pain. Sorry for the delay.

Phade.

you realize that you just gave a bunch of people that normally wouldn't have posted the non anime vids out of sheer fear the green light to post what ever they want.
