I'm not saying to specifically match each editor perfectly with certain types of music. Just merely suggesting to explore the chance of making interesting editor-to-music combos that might yield more amazing results than just randomly throwing around all the music. I'm not saying narrow down the possibility for certain editors to get certain songs, just to consider who might do well with a certain song and such.NerdStrudel wrote:That wouldn't work, Because Having not finished a vid for 8 months, and having accidently deleted all my shit before uploading anything decent here, crack has nothing to go off of, in my case at least.

He can definitely try, but there are so many editors who don't focus on a certain style, yet haven't tried many genres, and so it's kinda impossible to know how effective they'd be with them. Which again, is kinda the point of the MEP, I believe to have understood. Giving editors audio they couldn't even imagine editing with in the first place, right?kisanzi wrote:I'm not saying to specifically match each editor perfectly with certain types of music. We're all going to do our best, but I don't believe (And correct me if I'm wrong, Ben) this project's main goal is to produce an objectively excellent final result. That's just the icing on the cake. If the editors are challenged, and learn from the challenge, and the final product presents some very original audio and editing, the objectives are fulfilled. To me at least, seeing a track by a drama editor paired with some crazy techno mix WOULD be very interesting, because I'd love to see how he handled it. Improv, right?
In any case, if Crack was trying to produce the best MEP he could, he wouldn't have just accepted anyone who posted. So his intentions do lie elsewhere, I believe (Again, correct me if I haven't grasped this right at all.).

Greg kinda nailed it here. While I understand where you're coming from kisanzi, I've made it a point (multiple times, I do believe) that anyone not willing to edit anything should not be a part of this MEP. The point, like Greg said, is not to make a really kickass, well-edited MEP - though if that happens, huzzah. The point is for editors to challenge themselves and if that means being handed a track that they initially may feel overwhelmed by, then so be it. That's what they signed up for. I'm not about to go and download multiple AMVs by every editor involved in this project so I can get a feel for what they might be good at - that's not exactly possible for me, and besides as I've already said it would defeat the purpose. Some tracks are going to be "better" than other tracks, but if an editor honestly puts forward his best effort at editing to audio he may be completely unfamiliar with, and the end result still sucks, then the purpose of his joining the MEP has been fulfilled.Greggus1 wrote:A bunch of stuff.
I will say it once more for everyone involved: If you are not willing to edit to any and everything, please drop out right now.

No worries guys, I getcha. I just wanted to make sure that challenging the editors was still the focus. By reading the recent posts I got a bit confused because it sounds like some people are taking this project in a different direction than the original idea, so I was gauging what the actual goal still was. I have no question people will have fun with this project and as long as they put forth a trying effort then it will be good stuff.CrackTheSky wrote:More Stuff.Greggus1 wrote:A bunch of stuff.

The only things I hope:
-Nobody trolls
That means,... No bullshit songs. In my eyes the song should be challenging, unique and not something completly studpid. At least I do so
-It turns out good
Mix, parts etc. The usual stuff
-My editing time
isn´t when I have to much stuff to do xD I want to do my best. As far as I know Ben has the image of me of someone who can edit to effort. Let´s not dissapoint him =P

Anyways, I just wanted to say I've got no problems with what's happening and all. Looking heavily forward to this.'
I have a question though. How long will we have to make our segments?
And don't worry Sky. I'm ok with editing to anything..
FTW

No. Do Howard Dean techno. DEW ITIt's unnecessary if for no other reason that if I did communicate what audio source I was passing on I'd lie about it. So let them prepare for a techno remix of Howard Deans scream or whatever it is I'll tell them, that isn't what they're going to actually get so it doesn't matter. I'm sure I'm not the only one that'd do this. Especially now that I've just given everyone the idea.
FTW
