Why are so many people against using rap music in AMVs?

They are against them because of things.

1. It is damnly hard do a Rap AMV
2. If you have a GREAT idea, wonderful, if not suck.

One thing that hasnt bein argued properly is people's view on rap/rnb music about "chicks, money and cars". Despite what people who hate rap think, alot of these songs are damn good. Nasty Girl by Nitty is one of the most fun songs I've heard in ages. Theirs something about being in a car with a few freinds and singing along with it. Its funny, lighthearted and has a good feel to it. Wonderfull by ja Rule, R Kelly and Ashanti is a totoaly different song about what people who know nothing about rap would say is "the same thing" as Nasty Girl. Its a slow, emotional song with some realy good vocals. I love the song. Anyone who "automaticaly" hates rap/rnb will dismiss both they songs and alot of others like them simply based on the subject matter, without realy listening to them. Some people may even like them but be embaressed to admit it because they hang around a rock croud, or something similar.

This topic isnt about why people dont make amv's with rap/rnb music. Its about why people dont listen to the music and dismiss it based on an oppinion thats almost allways uneducated and filled with holes in their reasons for that oppinion. Making amv's out of rap music isnt particularly hard, thats nonsence. Any great amv takes alot of planing and hard work, regardless of the music being used.

it's still pretty hard, mainly for those people who like to keep the song tied to the lyrics. if you're use to doing instrumental vids, or something like that, then it's not that hard.

I'm gonna tell ya right now, I'm white, and I'm not a white guy that thinks he's black (I don't mean to sound racist), but I LOVE rap just as much as I love hard rock. I don't understand why so many people think it's a bad idea to use a rap song in an AMV. If you try, you can find a rap song that's good for any kind of AMV. Action, Comedy, Drama, Romance, whatever. So what's the deal?

Let's not get into attempts at objectivising the definition of music.

I'm sure a few people wouldn't consider some of the things I enjoy hearing regularly as being music.

I agree. whether or not it's music, in all honesty, doesn't really come into play. there are amv's out there that don't have music. we just call them amv's because we don't want to come up with another name.
i say this argument ends with

and i think the answer here is that most ppl don't use rap in their AMV beecause:
1. they don't like rap
2. they can't find an appropriate song
3. verse problems
4. other things that i can't remember
but there are AMVs with rap.

And I'll say once again that I would very much like to see MORE rap AMV's. There have been good ones, and there is no good reason - musical, visual, technical - that more can't be made. It's all a question of interest/motivation.
