Group project was a disaster. We're making our own corporation (like a simulation game you play on the computer) as our senior project in the business department.
My partner was originally the CEO (I didn't have the time to really dedicate fully, and she offered), and I played the role of the board of directors and accounting department.
DAMNED IF SHE DIDN'T RUN OUR DAMN COMPANY INTO THE GROUND IN THE FIRST WEEK. She was making our products cost nearly $800/unit, and only charging 400/unit to retailers. She also gave all our money to the charities, gave employees nearly 50/hr (industry average is 12/hr), AND daycare. To top it ALL off though, she was spending 500 million in marketing and only producing enough products to fill HALF the retail production orders. >:|
Soooo.. As board of directors, I fired her and hired myself as the CEO (thank God the teacher was on board with this. But I mean... We lost almost ALL of our money and failing the senior project is not good....).
So after about 2 weeks of furiously crunching numbers and trying to daily work at getting us back into profitability, I've got us in the black.
Year One: -36 Million Net Income [Her]
Year Two: -12 Million Net Income [Trying to get back on track...]
Year Three: -2 Million Net Income [SO CLOSE I CAN ALMOST TASTE IT]
Year Four: -.24 Million Net Income [HOT DAMN.]
Year Five: 12 Million Net Income [Finally paid off our creditors and the products were actually going into the company again]
Phew. Now I just have to keep us growing and hope the simulation doesn't throw us another curveball. Thankfully this game isn't like the real world, or I'd be out on my ass. >_>
