If you would like to know what
Aesthetics is then feel free to catch up on your studying.
If you could define me what art is after studying Aesthetics, than by all means tell me how. Because I surely can't.
Personally:
"My job is not to cry, my job is to make you cry." -Nicholas Meyer.
A lot of people define art as self-expression.
Today, I never make anything to express myself. Self-expression personally only has one audience, and that's the expressionist.
Instead I make something to not gain an expression from myself, but to gain an expression from my audience. I would rather see the criticisms of godix, Orwell, Crackerz, and all other AMVers, instead of the opinions of my own ego. This is what I think art is. Something that conveys an emotional response from the audience.
Learn from Darwin, when he uses the image of bread in a stripe of soup to convey a reaction of disgust. Neither the bread or soup alone is disgusting, but when their powers combine, the result is of course the horrific "CAPTAIN PLANET!"
godix wrote:A 3 year olds scribblings are art. Drawing stuff in the snow with your pee is art. Shaping your mashed potatoes into the grand canyon is art. AMVs are art. None of these are GOOD art but they're all art.
So true. So true.
Just because it's art, doesn't mean it's good.
Except, I'll have to clarify godix, that there are a lot of AMVs that are good. Sorry if I'm re-clarifying if you've already corrected this before.
All n' all:
