Hi i need help with this been trying to solve this for days. When i input an XVID .avi file into Sony Vegas 7 i cannot playback audio i have FDshow codec installed and still no luck. every other program i use plays the audio back fine. please if someone can help thanks

Use VirtualDubMod to convert the clips to a lossless codec, like HuffYUV or Lagarith. Read this to learn how.

Thanks im tryin that but when i open video file in virtualdubmod it says. Virtualdub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source avi file audio stream 1) The current prefrence is to rewwrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 15819ms of skew from the video stream. if this is unacceptable, decompress the entire stream to an uncompressed wav file and recompree with a constant bitrate encoder. bitrate: 135.9 +19.6kbps. Ok when i try to process says the file output for the video in virtualdubmod is like 20 something gigs. I already encoded this file using other program Nero Vision and it works but the mouths of the people in the show are fast and audio plays very odd thru the tv speakers for playback. maybe ill try the bitrate encoder for the audio. please if someone has more advice please help thanks. appreciate it alot.

Are you using the audio from the file? if not it doesn't matter. If so, do what it tells you to do.

If you're transcoding an entire episode of something and the setting is uncompressed, this will be perfectly natural. Even when encoded losslessly, you're files will be several GB each. That's why you make clips and only save those.

This last bit here suggests that you're doing something other than creating an AMV... especially if you're using the audio from the series for something... clarification is in order - are you making a video that needs sound clips in sections? Or are you not making an AMV at all and simply trying to burn fansubs to DVD?

Thanks alot for your help but still have trouble here. The file i am trying to convert to DVD format. It is AVI MOVIE file audio is in the file. when i encode with nero vision the mouths are fast and sounds fast audio like micey. When i try to process with Virtualdubmod it says i have to use a bitrate encoder to encode audio seperate but i dont know what program to use that lets you select 135.9 + 19.5kbs bitrate most of the encoders have set settings of bitrates that cannot be changed. I saved the audio from Virtualdub to .wav file now i guess i have to encode it to the bitrate that virtualdubmod says.??

Also forgot to add this the XVID AVI FORMAT MOVIE FILE is PAL FORMAT and Im converting to NTSC also. the original audio in the file is MP3 VBR HIGH QUALITY HIGH FREQ COMPRESSED. Thanks

I am having a problem similar to that of the original poster... I'm using Sony Vegas 6.0c and it seems the more I edit my videos, the choppier/glitchier they are AFTER I've rendered them... is this a user or a software error?
