i am so very sorry for my ignorant and time consuming post.. please forgive my insolence..
For the love of god, don't be so hard on yourself. This isn't a meritocracy here; everyone has just as much right to ask questions as everybody else.
You realize that was sarcasm? Just sayin', cuz I know you tend to have a hard time picking up on internet sarcasm.
Especially when I've seen similar things said in total sincerity.

Gepetto already covered the sarcasm possibility, so I figured I might as well hit the sincerity possibility.

There is no possibility of sincerity in that post.

The "omg the whole internet isn't going to hail me as its savior" part has been addressed, so breaking down the editing question: "perfect cuts" would be good timing? Good timing is just a matter of patience and knowing your music. If it means something else, what does it mean?

What's "crystal clear editing" mean? Good video quality? There are guides about post-processing and increasing video quality. If you've been distributing .wmv files, consider an alternative with better visual quality.

Try to address specific fears/problems. There are threads or guides about just about every quirk and problem in editing, and you can address others by trial and error or reading up on your software or codecs. Vague, weirdly sarcastic accusations of "crystal clear" and "perfect" aren't really going to address anything that needs to be improved.

You know what every bar needs? A bartender.

Hmm..

Thanks for the posts guys...

This response is going to be a difficult one to write..

I think the reason i would ask a question like "how hight is the bar" or "what is considered good"

Is not because i want people to worship me or even to be famous or anything like that..

but what i would like to do.. is to make a video that someone says... "hey. i really liked that. i actually was able to feel somthing. and it made me feel good."

I mean.. that is why people make art and movies and music right?

I don't believe these videos are so soulless that i can just assume what i know and want to do to be the best way.

I cannot just assume me having fun and editing will make people stop and say "wow" at the end of my video.

I ask people.. because i would like a general consensus on what playes a bigger part in a video.

Is it heart?
or is it flashy effects aimlessly put on the screen?

if its a combo of both... then how can a acquire the skills to make something like that before i begin.

If i remember anything about the video that i made.. it would be that i actually felt drained after i made it. i felt like i had made something that took something away from myself..

So if i am going to put that much into my videos.. then should i not get advice from the very folks that i want to enjoy it?

If only the world was so simple that i could do what i wanted to.. and everyone would be happy. unfortunately that is not the case..

I guess when it comes down to it.. the last thing that i want.. is for someone to scoff at something that i used my very heart and soul to make. and to write it off as amateurs work because i did not use the latest and greatest of whatever is available..

does that make any sense?
Close calls are always the most exciting. Coming close is always the most dissapointing.

I welcome any and all advice on how i can improve

You'd be surprised. Really. While super-top-of-the-line videos can make many more people stop and say "wow", you don't really need to be the A-number-one top of the line in order to entertain people. You might only get a small handful of "cool, I liked that" responses, but you'll get them.

Particularly viewers who are fans of the show and not regular AMV editors. I don't mean to insult them as badly as this sounds, but they're really, really easy to impress. I've gotten a lot of nice-but-not-orgasmic "thanks, that was fun" responses from fans of the shows I use, and my videos suck ass.

In other words, you can impress people with your technical prowess, you can move them or entertain them with a good idea or your shared fondness for the subject matter, or you can do both at the same time. There are many roads, Grasshopper.

So yeah, you having fun and editing can actually make people stop and say "aww" or "hm, that was cool" at least, and yeah, occasionally "wow" if you happen to hit a particular viewer's buttons. You won't have crowds of devotees chanting your screenname, but you can always work up to that. :P
