Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Of COURSE I thought it was good. I've thought everything that I've EVER done was good. That goes for everyone. If you didn't think it was good, why would you have created it?

That does not mean I truthfully thought it was the awesomest best video ever, or that I didn't think it could be better, or even that I thought it was more than it was: a first video. There is ALWAYS room for improvement, particularly with a first attempt, and I'm glad that I managed to draw out several people who actually critiqued the video, and not just me.

(in case that was too subtle, shinodude, it was an insult directed your way.)

And thanks for the link, L&A. I'd already spotted that forum and meant to comb through it sometime when I'm not trying to get together my portfolio for an art class midterm. <_<

A lot of people create amv's because they genuenly enjoy editting. Liking the outcome can often times have nothing to do with putting it together in the first place.

Then what they thought good was the process, not the destination - and I can't lie, I enjoyed editing it quite a bit. :D As Ralph Wiggum would say, "I'm lernding! Hello, Super Nintendo Chalmers!"

All in all, I'm rather pleased with this forum - though no doubt much of the good criticism garnered was simply 'cause I ticked some people off. I shall endevour to remember in the future that being deliberately inflammatory is not necessary here - but I don't keep quiet very well, either.

Thanks for your comments! I'll probably do an improved version by next week - can I ask y'all very nicely to look then and see if it's any better?

Oh! sorry about that. Even Santa gets a little irritated sometimes. ^^;

I have to start early gathering all of the gifts to give to good little boys and girls this yearr.
I remember back in the day when kids wanted a toy car or a little doll. Now days they want stuff like Xbox and Playstation!!

All of the trouble i have to go through fighting in lines for that stuff, spending all my cash and what do i get in return?!!!
A plate of stale cookies and a glass of milk thats been siting on the table for hours!!
I can't drink that warm s***!!

it sucks that every year I have to come to malls and have lots of spoiled kids sit on my lap.
Every year some kid trys to pull of my beard or take a piss while sitting in my lap!
Then they ask for the most stupid things like a pony or an elaphant...
How the hell am i gonna fit that on my sled?!!

I should have gave them rudolf... He is never any help anyways.
All he does is lay around drinking sake and complains
that the other reindeers wont let him play in any reindeer games!!

You want to know the real reason why his nose is red?!
Its becuse i puched him for kicking me when i was bending over and
had the nerve to blame it on dixie or whatever the heck her name is!!

I can't wait till the holidays are over so i can get a good rest...
And have a lil fun with Mrs Clause if ya know what i mean ^_~
Keep up the good work on your videos!

Lets go Dixie, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Donder, Blitzen, Cupid and Comet!

lol what a weak insult ill give you another chance tho.

I know there is always room for improvment but why did you make your self look like an idiot? you could have goten just as much attention makinga post and say somthing like "[insert link here] im new and I feel i did a good job but im always open to suggestions sence I know every amv has room for imrovment" instead you started of on how great your amv was when really it was just plain bad wich made you look like a neanderthal.

s'nice to know that one does not have to be belligerent to get an honest opinion. ^-^;

Then again, whatever I do in the next week will just be another rough cut anyway; final cut will have to wait until the third season of Naruto is released on DVD - well, at least, the 3rd DVD.

Mmm, the more cuts the better, I think.

Anyway, I'm off to school, so see ya!

I will watch whatever you churn out if you do these things:

1) Remove the subtitles. It only takes a few seconds with Adobe.
2) Use a wider variety of clips and not everything has to work chronologically.
3) Try and make the video and the music play off one another more closely.

If you can do that, I will ignore the crappy video quality and give you feedback in other areas. A really good AMVs, "Naruto's world", has pretty lousy quality, but it makes up for it in good editing.

Keep it real.

Sorry for double posting, but iamfanboy, here's an example of how a newb SHOULD behave: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=73388

Notice how he is honest? Notice how he is polite? Notice how he is humble? Notice how he removed the subtitles (most of them anyway)? Notice how he clearly read the tutorials since he understands what compression and avisynth are?

Also, notice the similarities. He has a similar premise to yours: A character who is fighting and struggling etc. It is also his first video. His sync is on in some places and off in others.

In terms of talent, you guys probably aren't too far off from one another, but he went about it the right way whereas you went about it incorrectly.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
