When someone at a local anime club said "That Miyazaki Guy", the entire club wanted his head.

I was barely in this corner of the hotel for the entire con, but it leads one to believe that gamers should be targeted more than us anime freaks as those that are extreme develop poor hygene :P
While I'll agree with you that there was some pretty fuckin nastiness coming from that room, you've gotta give it to the AN staff... they couldn't have picked a worse room. There was absolutely NO ventalation in there. (I acutally had to wander in on SUNDAY to find someone.. thought I was going to hurl.)

At the masquerade....
you know there are 2 types of 'hecklers'
1. Those who enhance the masquerade by picking up on the general point of the 'cosplay' and maybe making a comment to add alittle more flair. One example @ CNanime the 'Die Duo Die' speech which had a group of people cheering the cosplayer as he ranted... to the point that he asked one to come up and show their hatred of Duo'

2. Stupid people who yell @ cosplayers, usually something mean or cold...

I hate #2.

"When anime fans go too far"
Hmm...

The first thing that comes to mind has to be "the chair." I don't know exactly where or when it started but I first heard about it from Otakon 2000. It seemed funny at first, but it got way out of hand. I heard people were using that to boo cosplayers off the stage. I know it happened at later cons and then again at Otakon 2K1. A very good example of when otaku get out of hand...

P.S. I hate the chair

When anime fans go too far...

A 25 hour train trip to go to a con that only goes for 10.
