Most important part of a video... hands down... is the concept.

I wouldn't say that. It is a very important part, nonetheless. But a major part is EDITING and VISUAL CLARITY. If it looks grainy, I get turned off right away.

That's part of the execution.

But, really, we're talking about separate aspects. And what you two are putting forward are two opposite halves of what AMV's are: concept and execution.

I actually don't think either is more important.

What IS important is balancing the two properly.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

The flow of the video, if the video can't keep up with the flow of the song it ruins the whole damn thing.

The most important part of making a video is excelling in all areas, just not one.

The most imporant part:

Distributing the intended emotion, whether it be laughter, tears, romance, adrenaline, fear, pain. And doing it well.

Otherwise it distributes boredom.

oh god effects, but not used too much and they must be used at the right time

also
-timing
-going along with the lyrics (evenly distributed)
-at the same speed as the song (ex: an upbeat song requires action, and slower song requires non-action)

and i absolutly hate lip-syncing unless the whole amv is about lip syncing like the ninja of the night AMV

For me, hmm, what makes that GOOD amv...

Well, it's really dependant. I love MADs, but special fx don't make an amv all that good or bad. I do have top amvs which have no fx in them. ^_^

So.......

Difference between good / bad amv?

Ok, some people like following lyrics, some don't. Either of these techniques don't matter too much to me cause some like one more than the other. [I find following the lyrics exactly a little too simple and basic/predictable, but that's just me.]

Well, good concept works, then again, nothing's "truely" original these days. Years have passed since amvs hit the scene so originality based on some of these things is tough to judge.

Hmm... TIMING! I like an amv that has a sense of timing with lots of edits [vs. LOOONNG scenes that my noob-ass self did a looong time ago] Yeah, any amv that reminds me of my own stupidity is bad. [yeah, there we go, my stupidness ^_^]

Good timing, makes a good amv. Some have plot/execution, but thing is, not all amvs need that! Some are just fun!

Thanks for reading!
