I've seen Nausicaa in so many stores in the last two weeks that I could care less when the R1 gets released.

Oh, wait. That's right, the ones I've seen are R2s

I'm looking forward at least to finding out how well they got Patrick Steward as master Yupa. I was hoping to get it earlier, but, just have to find something else for now.

Anybody know if they'll be doing the big box sets and stuff like they did for the re-release of the japanese version a year ago? Especially the $250 set with the framed print and the figures?

Disney Inc. said they wouldn't change a thing in translation or graphix...... but now they've done it! delaying the movies i've been wanting to see since i first started reading the Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind perfect collection in English...... those books are great! i'm probably thinking bout buying the rest of the series!Well anyway, i just hope they just get it out SOON!!!! or i'll have to order all the dvd's/VHSs from studio ghibli myself! that's of course after i get HALO 2 from BlockBuster on november 8th at mid-night.... with my big bro....

  :x Where do I begin?

The one REALLY noticeable item on the R2 version of Spirited Away that's NOT on the R1: the excessive red tint. The R1 has the Japanese dialogue track in Dolby 5.1; R2 release had a Dolby 2.0 and a DTS 6.1. But, outside of the sound choices, the only particular problem I have w/ the R1 Spirited Away DVD is an error w/ the seamless branching/alternate angle w/ the original Japanese graphics (they're there, you just have to reset the sound/subtitles once you get past John Lassiter's intro).

The issue about "no cuts or changes" isn't that the rights-holder (Disney) is not allowed to make any changes -- it's that Disney is NOT allowed to make any cuts/changes to the Ghibli films without consulting with Studio Ghibli (legacy of the Warriors of the Wind debacle/hack job). Any English translation and script, changes to the music (like in Kiki), changes to titles -- Disney HAS to check w/ Studio Ghibli first. Even Studio Ghibli has initiated changes for the Disney releases (the decision to incorporate new music to Castle in the Sky was Ghibli's choice, not Disney!). If you want to blame anyone for the changes, DON'T just blame Disney.
HELP!! I'm being held prisoner by CLAMP fans!! We Demand -- er, They Demand -- uh, OH, FORGET IT!! It's Fun Here!!

Too bad Laputa's out now. :) (the clip I used for that scene)
But I used that clip because it was on the Kiki VHS, which came out on 1998/09/01, and advertised that movie (coming soon!) which they eventually released on 2003/04/15.
